I may finally get one of this M5 Beast this wk

Hey gang!
I believe after a good search I will get the best candidate in my search soon

2002 M5
48,0000 miles
Dark Blue interior/ black red interior
$35,000 +TTL

I just final test drove it in a long stretch and its screams, I believe being 02, it saves me some worries that most 00-01 M5 owners has in terms of carbon problem etc.

They did say that this clutch was new, they wouldnt budge anymore the price even if I bring it to the dealer to have it check out, for they said thats a steal price, and I believe them. and discounting more doesnt make any sense for them. So, I think, its worthless to have a pre-purchase inspection on it, when it fact I still have 1k of warranty left to find any faults on it, Agree?

I did find that their is no spare tire though? no runflat tires? is that correct?

Interior looks so new and I love the steering wheel, no dents, paints, perfect!

Any last thing I need to do before I pull the trigger, I asked my wife to look at it this afternoon and make sure she is with me on this.

Any additional comments or advice is welcome

Whatever you do... have a BMW dealer inspect the car before you purchase it. You never know...

I just pulled the trigger on one today! 2002. Had 35k miles, but I paid a lot more than you...:bawling: 45k. But, I must say -- this is a dream machine. Of course, just owning it for one day, I'm no expert. Is the one your buying a certified pre-owned with the limited warranty from BMW?

There are literally pages of information on this on the E39 forum at m5board.com. There is also quite a bit of information on the regular E39 forum here at Bimmerfest. Most are using the Denison IceLink.

Congrats on the purchase! Almost 1.5 years later, I still get the same grin every day!

It was quite the marketing campaign I was running with the wife to trade my 3 series in for this... much thought was put into -- but, it paid off. You know you're running a great campaign when the wife says, "why don't you go ahead and buy this thing." :bigpimp:

Thanks. Seems like a great board. I think I learned today, when pulling out of the car wash... I forgot what it's like with the wet tires. Hehaw!! The iPod integration went really smooth, thanks in large part to Tom @ EAS. Apperantly, the late year 2002 model M5 come use the analog connectors, so the Dension kit is virutally plug N Play. Don't know if there is such a thing as "car nirvana," but the M5 with all my iPod tunes at my finger tips is pretty darn close.

Now, if I can master the "Tire Defect Warning" light -- I'm all set. I guess it means I need to get more diligent about my tire pressure...

Also, my "service engine soon" indicator came on for a few hours, then went off. I suppose this is one of the price you pay for all that computerized sophistication -- that is, sensors, and warnings that could mean any of a 100 things...

You might want to check you MAF's. When they go bad, the car exhibits the condition you describe above.
