What's up all I was about 2 seconds away for signing a contract to pick up an 06' 525xi then I was informed that the 2007MY was just a month from production/availability , I want to get the car now but i'm not gonna buy it if they are going to change the body style of the 5 Series (LEDs in tail lights, vents like the M5 etc...) I am gun shy cause I dont want to get stuck in this car if they're gonna change it soon. I know theyre adding to the interior options but does anyone have any information as to the exterior? Any little cosmetic changes or anything?

No exterior changes for 2007.

You never will be stuck. A car can always be sold.
I am not sure if you are buying or leasing, but assuming you bought the 2007 and it arrived in May. You would put 7 months worth of miles on an 07 vehicle before the 2007 year began.
There are always at least subtle differences on the exterior year to year. BMW does not always annouce them.

So do you think it makes sense to have my dealer locate and reroute one of the last remaining 06's when the 07's are coming out? My main concern is the exterior changing but I also know that the MF will probably go up considerably and I got a really great quote on an '06

If you are renting a car, what do you care? :dunno: Drop it off in a couple years and get another one. I don't understand this line of reasoning when leasing. :dunno:

Those were spy shots showing the altered front bumper that allows for increased airflow for a turbo.

So far it is just a strong rumor. In any case, Production MY07 cars will have the same engine family except for some small tweaks to meet CARB requirements.

think there will be a large pricing difference on the 07MY's? I got a great quote from a dealer I am working with $47,600 on a lease for a 525xi, What do you think?

The prices will be close, but the lease numbers will probably be worse for the 07's.

Thanks for all your help. After I'm out of work I'm heading over to BMW to sign an contract on the '07MY I guess, my dealer has 2 525xi's leaving Munich today and I have to let her know if I want one so she can reroute them to a different port, But I would flip if the 07 was different than the 06, well again thank you for your input from everyone.

?
There are already four 5ers available with turbochargers - two of them available since launch in 2003.

Not in the US- we don't have the diesel option. :(

Base MF for MY2006 is 0.0016. MY2007 likely won't be as good so count on a higher payment while receiving little in return. On a lease, it's almost a moot point.

Judging by the front valances of the various 5ers I see, there appears to be little difference other than in the various sizes of the openings (the E36 used to have significant variation, too). It's unlikely that BMW would redesign the lower valances specifically for the addition of a turbo as all it would need to do would be to fit the valance from a 535d (or 550i, which surely had just as much need of cold air as the alleged turbocharged "six"!).
A while ago, Autocar (UK) ran a story about the 5er facelift, which it described as very mild. BMW was sticking to its guns regarding headlight and taillight shapes, only cleaning up the plastic bumper surfaces a little bit.

I really dislike the new front bumper/chin facelift they did on the 5 Series. I hope that is not Final...

The facelift will happen for model year 2008. The pictures are mules undergoing some sort of testing and don't necessarily reflect an actual design. Notice some of them have no fog lights. They might simply be testing airflow for various sized openings without regard to the asthetic appearance. They might be testing the night vision camera housing. Yes, some of the pictures look ugly but I wouldn't assume they are the facelift.

 Thanks Rakete, I sure hope so cuz IMO, I really prefer the front bumper the way it is now.
I think they did a great job with the new X3 front and rear bumper updates. Especially the rear, it has a bit of the M5's rear bumper look to it. I hope they do the same for the facelifted MY08 5 Series
