View Full Version : Can the M steering be ordered

I have ordered a 2003 330CI and the status is "on order". I haven't been given a production week yet but I do have a production number. I have ordered the sunshade and anthracite headliner and my question is, can I order the M steering wheel and have it installed at the factory as well or do I have to get the dealer to install it after I purchase the car? I would much rather have the M steering wheel come installed on my car. If it is possible to order the M steering wheel does anyone have the code? Thanks in advance for all your help and advice.

Unfortunately, Lori, the M3 steering wheel is available
only as a "dealer-installed option"...

I did this with Jon and Cutter, Lori... the only difference is the $300 or so, and the stock steering wheel in the box in the trunk. :D

Hi Plaz,

Did Jon installed M steering wheel for you after your car arrived at Cutter? Do you remember what the cost was (parts and installation)?

Yes, they did, and no, I don't remember the cost... I think it was around $300-350 total.

I know the parts price alone has shot up for that wheel, though. Presumably BMWNA realized how popular it is as an add-on, and decided to beef up the bottom line. :rolleyes:

I got an M3 wheel from Cutter about a month ago. If I'd have walked in off the street to buy it, they would've wanted $450. Ordering through the Internet Sales person, it was $340. Less BMW CCA discount, plus CA tax and shipping down to LA, it was $309. (Note all figures approximate as the paperwork is at home).

I have no idea what the dealer or an independent mechanic would charge to install it, since VinceTopazBlau installed it for me (Thanks Vince... it felt really good on the DV trip!).
