I want to sell my Thule towers/bars made for the E46 3 series. I think they retail for around $205, I'd like $100 for them. Email me or call at 713-256-3088 if you're interested.

I don't need a rack, but I noticed in your avatar, you have a # on your MTB. Do you race competitively?

I have been racing mountainbikes since 1997. I am heavily involved in Texas racing, board member of the Texas Mountainbike Racing Association (post as Scott S. on tmbra.org), promote a couple of races, and run a junior team. Turn 50 this year and in the best condition of my life.

Cool, I also race, but on the road. I've been into it for 21 years. I race pretty much every weekend once the season starts. There's a team called Texas Roadhouse that comes to race in my area at a couple National Calendar races in Baltimore, MD and Arlington, VA.
Do you know a guy named Jeramiah Bishop? He's an excellent MTB racer that I've raced with on the road. Now he rides Pro for Trek.

Have not met him personally but have seen him at the NORBA nationals. I was Race Director for our first Texas nat in 2004, and take the kids to a couple every summer. This June, we're going to Sugar Mountain, North Carolina, and Mt Snow, Vermont. My road team is Southern Elite, mountain team is Mad Duck. We send lots of Juniors to road nats, and have a multi time Masters track World Champion on our team, Al Whaley.

Scott, I'm very interested. I've started hitting the local trails a couple times a week ever since two weeks into training for the Houston marathon, I realized that my knees couldn't live up to the abuse. Up to this point, I've either been hitting trails that are within biking distance or relying on friends with bike racks. I've been too lazy to research the pros and cons of a roof rack or trunk rack. Any thoughts?
Feel free to PM me or reply here.
EDIT: I've also got a couple of questions about possible modifications to my current bike that maybe you could help me with.

Trunk racks are evil! Roofracks are great as long as you remember you've got something up there. Second choice would be receiver hitch/rack, but the 3 series is perfect for a roof mount with its pre-drilled holes.
