View Full Version : Paid $2/qt for Mobil 1 0W30 Tri-Syn tonight!!
I had stopped to get gas at the Mobil station near my office. I have been on a quest for oil for a couple weeks (no one seems to carry 0W30 or 0W40 Mobil1). Well, after checking in the convenience shop (they only stocked other grades), I decided to ask the mechanics closing up the shop for suggestions on where to go to get some.
"Oh, we got some right here. How much ya want?" Me, "I'll take a case." thinking, well, I have a few quarts at home, so that's all I need. Then I see him ring it up on the computer. I watch him pick "Mobil 1 lubricants" then "0W30" then "6" for quantity and I notice the price is at $12 something. Quick math translates to me saying, "You know, I think I'll go ahead and grab another case. Make that 12."
So I have in front of me a receipt for 12 quarts of Mobil 1 Tri-Syn 0W30 for $25.08 (which includes tax). I suspect they rang it up at the shop rate as my receipt says "Parts - 12 - Mobil 0w30 Oil", but I'm sure not complaining. And they even had the more ellusive 0W40 on the shelf in the service bay as well.
And this place is about 30 seconds out of my way on my way home from work.
It's on Centreville Road by the "Clocktower" Shopping Center near the Toll Rd if you local guys want to head over. Brand new Mobil station w/service bays and a convenience store.

They are going to be sooo confused by the volume of oil business they are doing.
Not to mention the parade of late-model BMWs.

Go a little further down Centreville Rd from where we stopped to dump off your car that day and it'll be on your left.

My first oil change popped at ~10,900 on my 330i. That's the only actual vs suggested interval I've bothered to make a note of.

Well.. Given the way you drive, I'm not surprised. :)

Don't hog all that cheap oil for your self. Go back and buy a DOZEN cases and sell them here for $3.50 a quart...They'll still sell like hotcakes and you'd make a hefty profit.
Think group buys man.

Hot damn, that's a great deal. I never even thought to go that route for oil. Perhaps I'll go see if the Mobil across the street from my house will offer me the same price.

Not that it make a difference, but the Tri-syn is discontinued now, replaced by the super-syn. They may have been clearing it out.
Unless anyone needs SL instead of SJ or older, I probably doesn't matter.
