Apparently in Europe Night vision is available on the 7 series. now as of April 2006 it is available to 5 series and 6 series.
here in the U.S it is not yet available on the BMW web site, perhaps in April...

Nice.... Anybody think there would be any chance of some package for ours?

If they will make it available in the U.S., I'm 99.99% sure there will be a retro-kit for all E65/66 MY2006 or later. Those cars are already equipped with a fuse called "night vision" and a retro-kit for those vehicles will def. be available in Germany (according to BMW), so why shouldn't it become available in the U.S. since it's the same kit?

I really am not intrested in this feature. I like looking at the road when I drive, looking at the screen instead sounds dagerouse to me.
perhaps as a HUD i would buy it.

Actually the nightvision system was introduced in Lexus flagship truck the LX470. Also, Cadillac introduced it in its deville around the same time as Lexus, thus making them both the pioneers on the market to intrduce this technology.
which sadly enuff is knocked off as an option on the new S550 and now apparently the 7 series too :dunno:
I just bought a 2004 LX470 recently and was sad to find out that the nightvision system option was not present in it, but hey apparently this feature is very useful on dark curvy roads or just on the state highways at night.. for stationary objects that are within a 500ft range. but like you said 2006_ED there are not enuff people out there who would get it unless they live in the boonies or are in the farming business where they have to travel large distances to move around.
I will post some pics of this amazing machine once I get a chance and comeback from vacation.
