Anybody have any new updates for the retro-kits for 745's.
I, like many others have a 02 745Li and have read many posts. January '06 something was to be released! Has the retro kit come out? Has anyone used it yet? What's the price? Thanks...

No bluetooth needed. Call Locus and get your phone activated. Screw a retro kit. 20 bucks a month for service. Look at the treads to see how. DOn't give up.

Hello All,

I think I might have one of the first BMW retro bluetooth kits! And...I love it!

Basically, they made a bluetooth adapter that is a solid piece of plastic that resembles a V60 phone. You simply plug it into the location that the normal V60 went and then bond your phone to it the same way you would a bluetooth headset (or any other bluetooth adapter for that matter).

It cost me 399.00 from a local Southern California wireless company that is a Verizon service center. When I purchased the phone they said the adapter would ONLY work with a RAZR phone. I have to ask myself why BMW would AGAIN shoot themselves in the foot by desiging a system that only works with 1 phone. Now, while I don't know for sure that this is the case they might have just wanted to sell me a RAZR -- :)

I really like it and it is nice to FINALLY ditch the old V60 and step into the modern age of phones. It syncs with the I-drive great and the I-drive functions the way it always did. I am only having 1 problem with it right now: When you bond with the bluetooth adapter it then proceeds to download all your contacts to the I-Drive. When I have subsequently deleted an entry from my phone it doesn't seem to re-sync with the I-Drive display. In other words, it looks to me like the names and numbers on the I-drive only sync the first time you bond and then they don't ever update. I am going to call to see if there is a way to just reset and have it download the contacts from my phone again.

Overall I am really happy. I have had it for about 2 months now and really like having a newer phone with a lot of new features. Seems like they did a really nice job on this adapter.

Feel free to ask any questions if I left anything out. I'd also be happy to give anyone that wants a contact number to get the kit as well from the company I got it from. I think they might be one of the few companies that seems to be able to get them for now. I could be wrong about that but they are the only one I could find.

Search is your friend, Kevin.
The BTUM is $295.00 at any BMW dealer, and has been discussed here since 2/5/06.
It is compatible with several different phones, it does update the phone book, simply press the blue button on the BTUM for ONE second (while powered up and paired to your Razr), and your phone book will be updated to iDrive.
You can also pair two phones to the BTUM device.
