4L makes the most sense. 80% of 5L = 4L.

There were rumors of the M6 getting a 5.5L 550 hp but that never materialized.

Just because you read it on the internet doesn't mean it is true.

4.0 liters does make the most sense, but I think BMW may be under some pressure to get more than 400 hp to equal or better the competition (e.g., RS4 = 420 hp, potential C63 = 476 hp). Upping the displacement 10% is probably feasible without too much effort.

As widely known, BMW is notorious for underrating their cars. Ex: There have been dynos of M6's/M5's with the V-10 and they have gotten around 530 hp outta it, i've seen the dyno papers somewhere, i'll look if you want me to find it. Stock that is, what a coincidence, my 530th post!

Wrong, BMW actually tells the truth about HP. BMW stated HP numbers are are such that all engiens delivered range something like +10%/-3% . Other manufacturers state the single highest HP figure thay have ever seen on any engien they tested.

GermanCarFans says 4/0 liters and 415 hp. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

yeah, just saw that, i have a feeling that it will be 4.0 based on the preponderance of the evidence, but 4.4 would be nice.
