I'm looking to change the OEM style 6 rims on my GF's '95 318iS to something better.

Here're the specs:
15x7 (the ETK lists them as 7Jx15) ET: 47
on 205 60R15

I was thinking 17" rims. What rim dimension and tire size would make the least amount of difference as far as the fit (not counting the differences because of the lower profile and better rubber) is concerned. I don't want the tires to rub, nor would I like the rims to stick out of the car.

Would 17x8 ET: ~44 be just fine? On 225 45R17? What's the most perfect fit?

Thanks!

There isn't really a 'most' perfect fit, but if you want a conservative fitment, stick with 7" or 7.5" wheels from the list on our site :

Wheels http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AB2&url=/wheels/index.jsp

We list some 8", but those are fairly aggressive fits.

Run either 205/50R17 or 225/45R17.
