Hello All:
My local dealer says I need a new Oxgen sensor on bank 2 downstream which i understand is right below the cat. My car is a 2002 bmw 325ci. Has anyone ever replaced this before? And if so what is involved? I can probably do this myself however I would lvoe to know what I am getting into before I start.
Thanks,
-Bob
Seems easy to do, but you need to get underneath the car. I have seen a special Oxygen sensor wrench listed in a tools catalog, but off-hand it seems to be a reguler hex head fitting. Take a look for your self on the upper oxygen sensors, near the manifold.

You can find a O2 sensor at http://www.ultimategarage.com/ or you can get a universal one from O'reillys auto or your local auto supply store. Really pretty cheap with the second option. They provide a pretty good simple procedure to make it work like your current OEM ones.
I found on a '96 that the space your working with is quite tight. You won't be able to use the generic O2 sensor sockets as they are too long and you have no way to get in there even with a swivel. I ended up using a crow's foot. At least on the rear ones as I recall I may have been able to use a regular socket on the ones up in the header.
