From over at GermanCarFans. Not really anything Earth shattering. Except for the brakes, could just be a regular E90.

Doesn't look like an M3 proto to me.......no quad exhaust. I could understand it not having the full body work if it's a mule but usually they do have all the running gear.....

edit......the text says the body work is hiding quad exhaust. interesting...

giant brakes visible behind the zhp looking wheels.........

anyway..I think it is a positive sign that there will be a sedan version for all those sedan lovers.

competition for the audi........makes sense to me

Oh yeah... something wicked with 4drs this way cometh from the alchemist wizards at M-works. Sign me up... I'm in

There is a fairing cover over a bulge in the hood. That's a distinct M design cue hidden on a 4 door. I'm definitely in if it's a M3 4-door.

I couldn't find it, but remember seeing the US sales numbers for the M3 back in 1997 and 1998. The sedan easily outsold the coupe.

aren't sedans always the most nimble and lightest of all the body styles, since they use lighter materials because they don't have to compensate for the lack of a B pillar the way the coupe and cab do?

I don't know about nimble...I definately know more stable. I have a friend that has a convertible M3 and we punched it on the autobahn and you can feel the chassis bend. It was crazy almost to where it's scary.

I do not see the signature M side grilles. :dunno:

I think it is an E90 with Performance (ZHP)Package. :D

The coupe has a B-pillar. The E46 coupe was almost as rigid as a E46 sedan (that had folding rear seats). Of course, the coupes downfall is the bigger door opening. Convertibles are definitely not as rigid.

Well, you don't see quad tips either. You know all the bits aren't necessary for a test mule. The hood stuff might be necessary to hide a bulge due to a larger engine, and those are some mighty big brakes for a ZHP.
