Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but check out this month's issue of CAR (UK) for some interesting (photoshops) of the 2009 F01 and F02 models. Yes, thats right, according to them.. no more "E" model designators.

Looks even better than the E65!

i love the styling thats whats so great about sevens ...when one drives by..everyone knows....forget sports styling...im so over sports style cars....the seven is popular because of its huge body...and radical styling....you cant please everyone..bmw should know that...making it smaller will satisfy the complainers but will generate new complainers who love the big out of the ordinary style but its ok ill still by the new one haha

I hypothesized that the "E" designations are having to be retired because BMW's internal ERP system might only support a 3 character designator. They got up to the "E99" and had to "roll over."

They would make a big mistake to bring to the U.S a smaller 7 series, but still, I am sure that I will buy the car

Smaller 7 series? Hmmm .... just about all others are going big - Benz S class, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Lexus across all the lines, ....

:dunno:

didnt the current model come out in 02? given the traditional 7 year cycle that would put the redesign in at 08 as an 09? is this right? i hope the "clean up" the styling. it never quite worked for me.

I thought those were interesting pictures. If you look in that same issue, back a few pages, at the photoshop of the next-gen M/B E-Class, the headlights on that car look very similar to what they put on the next 7-Series. Interesting.

That's interesting because THAT picture has a slightly different headlight treatment than the photoshop that's in February's CAR. Same basic picture, just different headlight designs...

Let's hope this photo turns out to be like so many other concept cars and never becomes reality. I drive the 750Li because it is unique. On the road, it seems the manufacturers are competing to match thier Toyota Camry cookie cutters in one mass look alike contest. Remember the old Acura legends? Those were nice looking big 4 door sedans. Look at the Acura TL now, it looks like a corolla-camry-jetta-ford 500-etc, etc. Big sedans are not supposed to be small! When I drive my 750, I get a big kick out of watching those Lexus and Mercedes owners avoid eye contact, as if they don't see my huge battlestar passing nearby. Unfortunately, BMW will probably go smaller in 09, and by doing so conform to the "Rule of Camry" first discovered by Sir Issac Newton, which states that, "If your car looks like a Camry, it might as well be a Camry"

(Note: I own two Toyotas-A 1994 Landcruiser with 234,000 miles and a 2001 Sequoia with 135,000 miles. My Landcruiser is a marathon beast which will probably run forever- so I'm the last guy to diss Toyota. All I'm saying is the Camry is what it is, probably the best all around value to price (boring) car in the world-which should send BMW running in the opposite design direction. )

And yes, my car insurance payment is almost equal to my mortgage.

I like the fact that the car is very similar to the current gen E65 with its big body styling...however the earlier post with the following link...is from 2005! which shows what it might look like :eeps:.... So lets hope that whole camry acura thing isnt actually true

I think it looks very good. To me it seems that BMW is trying to end the 5 series ( I know they are not but here is why) The 7 is getting smaller and the 3 is getting larger. What is the 5 to do?

they took the back of the z4 attached it a E90 body, stretched it a bit, added Z8 front end to it and called it a car.

I'd drive that
