2001 530i/sport. Current Bridgstone SO3s have 30k miles and are shot. I enjoy the handling but I'd appreciate a quieter ride on the next set. Also, I don't plan to keep the car all that much longer, so price is a factor.

Suggestions anyone?

You can pick-up the PS2's at Costco or Sam's Club. No experience with SO3's so can't compare but PS2's are pretty quiet IMHO.

PS2s are my first choice if I'm going to keep the car awhile. At Costco, it's about $900 for a set, installed. I'd like to find something a tad more economical without giving away too much handling and ride quality.

Check out Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S. I put them on my sedan and love them. I have PS 2's on my coupe-great tires too but like the M&S's better.

I've always been fond of Pirelli, but I'm in L.A., and I think "M&S" might mean mud and snow. Won't there be some handling compromises there?

I'm in Arizona now. As I mentioned before, I have both PS 2's and M&S's and I like the Pirelli's better. Quieter, smoother and treadwear is better. I don't track any of my cars but do put them through the paces when I have the chance. If you're a spirited daily driver with no track-time, the Pirelli's are a great tire and highly rated. Check Tire Rack reviews too and prices.

Yokohama AVS ES100

I think they have ZERO noise, and the performance is that of a $200 tire. I drive like a douche. They are great in the rain. They only last the summer, but I switch to a winter rim/tire so I don't care.

I print out the Tire Rack price $118 and Discount Tire matches it. I then pay for balance and install. If they don't have it they order it. It usually comes out to around $600.
