I own a E36 92 325i it has its rolling over 195k, the spings and struts are all original and are finally showing signs of their age. During the summer i will be buying a M3, should I go ahead and replace the shocks/struts, or just keep driving as is till summer. Car runs great, nothing wrong, have kept up on all maintence and fixed all normal E36 issues, great car. Lastly what do you think would be a reasonable price for my car? Thanks

Just let it go, you have just as good a chance having nothing happen than you do having something go wrong.

k, if anybody else has any thoughts about shocks/struts, i thnk i should replace them considering it will only cost about 300+ dollars, but just not sure. Especially if I am going to try and sell the car. Haha, thoughts please will the car last much longer than 195k.

Replace them for sure. Check on EBay they have Bilstien Sport shocks and springs for <700 and that would increase the value of the car.

putting upgrade performance shocks like these will not really increase the value of the car. It will depend on the person buying it. Banks will care less what is on the car like shocks, tires, chips, etc. for a good market value go to www.edmunds.com and good luck. i wouldnt bother replacing them if you are going to be selling the car in the next couple of months you wont really get your money out of it. If properly maintained, these cars will last almost 300k. You may as well keep it b/c you will prob not get what you want price wise. I thought about selling mine, but I have already put more $ into it than it is worth. Tough call.

If you do decide to keep the car (as a beater, compared to your M3 ;-) then put some bilstien heavy duty shocks on there, not the sport shocks. I have HD's and the original springs, and I have 180k on my car. I put the HD's on at 170k or so. If you go with the sport shocks, you will need new springs as well, and will lower the car. I personaly like the lower cars, but at the time I replaced the shocks/struts, this was my only car and I needed the height to get over all the snow here in MA. I think you should keep the car for the times you don't want to take the M3 into cities, etc.

yeah im going to keep it i think, because like you said im not going to get the money out of it, so just go with the touring model bilstein shocks that basically just go on with my stock springs? thanks

I believe the touring is for lowered or stiffer springs. The direct Bilstein replacement for stock coils is the Heavy Duty (HD).
