Ok,
I've only had my '93 for a couple of weeks now, and let me say, I really get a kick out of driving it!
This weekend, I drove from Suffolk County, UK down to Stonehenge, and eventually Bath (about 4 hours) and averaged over 30 MPG--in a 13 year old car! After a couple of nights in Bath, I drove up to Stratford on Avon and Warwick and then Back (total 3.5 hours) and averaged 31.4. This is my first BMW, and I'm truly impressed. I'm sure most of it falls to BMW and their great inline 6, but I've got to hand it to the previous owner who has had every factory check up since new (stamped in owners manual) and every UK inspection since 1996.
Sorry to ramble on, but I've never been this impressed with a car after only a few weeks of ownership.

Now here's a very odd post . . praise instead of a problem:D Glad to hear you're having a great time with it. Mine's a '92, and despite all the work I've done to her, I still love the ride and she's the best car I've ever owned.

I second Dudesky's post, finally people enjoying their car instead of nitpicking on the forums. I too have a 92, and it has given me (well, me + father + original owner) 180k miles of enjoyment. Oh, and this very car made the same trip you did back in 98. We spent a few weeks in England and toured those spots plus more.
Now, if you could only drive on the correct side of the road! :-)

A little over 180K here and It doesn't show signs of stopping anytime soon (knock on wood).
You've got it right about the wrong side of the road. I'm in the USAF stationed over here and man it was a rush the first time I drove over here. You have to retrain all of your muscle memory to look in different places. For example, next time you're in the passenger seat of a car try and look in the rear view mirror and side mirrors. Granted, they won't be pointed correctly, but it's the eye muscles that gave me the most trouble. I still rarely use my left side mirror.

despite my "car refreshing" state im in right now...when shes running good, shes running good. such a fun car to drive. i also ave. about 30.4mpg
I drive a bmw 320i E36 (1991-1999) and the fan is not attached rigidly to the engine shaft, hence the temperature rises very fast. Can I go ahead and make the fan permanent to get a more effective cooling? Hope this will not damage anything or disrupt the original design of the fan/engine or in turn affect the whole engine set up.?
The inside lights, rear lights of my car bmw 320i E36 do not come on and the fuse box direction for usage is written in german and I'm from an english speaking country, how do i get to understand the instructions and adjust them appropriately?

I have 87,000 miles on my 1998 328i 5sp and still no problems here too - I got it used in 2004 with 60,000 miles on it. Excellent fuel mileage too, and lots of tight nimble zip. :) Only things I have had to replace were the infamous Final Stage Resistor, tires (the factory originals - worn out), and new brake pads and rotors (factory originals that were worn out) and two rear bushings. And I pulled the shift boot off so I could regrease the shifter ball when it started squaking when shifting into 5th. Everything else I have done has been cosmetic and not critical (like new plastic BMW center cap inserts). The paint looks like new and people come up to me and ask what year it is and can't beleive it is 8 yrs old.

No one beleives mine is a 92. Most of these people arnt enthusiasts, so when I ask them to guess how old my car is, the normal guess is between 4 and 6 years. When I tell them 14, they don't believe me.
