How can BMW ignore all of the voices on these boards that are asking for smaller, lighter and decently powerful cars?

Has BMW forgotten that the 2002 made BMW?

Sorry! That was two questions!

I read this General forum, and the E60 forum. I don't see such pleas.

By smaller and lighter do you mean something a la the WRX and Evo?

The 2002 ended production in what -- 1976?? Tastes have changed since then, as has BMW's business model for US sales. BMW is content not to compete with the WRX and Evo. BMW's image for the US is much more exclusive and upscale.

By sticking their fingers in their ears... and singing, "LALALALALALALALA"

Although we ARE quite vocal about our likes & dislikes, we only represent a small percentage of BMW buyers. Since profits are higher on fully-loaded, highly-optioned models, you can bet that this is where BMWNA wants to concentrate their efforts, and unfortunately, don`t even see the need to offer "deleted content" models (AKA "ClubSport" models) to satisfy the performance-minded crowd. I agree that there`s nothing like a lightweight, powerful car....I still remember my first drive in a friend`s `93 Mazda RX-7 twin turbo (2800 lbs.) WOW ! But, the fact remains that most of the buying public prefers a more middle-of-the-road ride....this appears to be where most manufacturers are headed, leaning more toward the "luxury" end of the spectrum.
