OK, thought I'd move the post to the forums. Who has signed up already? Can we sign up online or do we have to mail in the form?

I am thinking about it. My son is having 2 wisdom teeth out Friday AM 3/10 so it depends on how he is feeling. The Dr says he will be 100% before dinnertime...we shall see.

The registration for the Car Control School on March 9-11(which comes with a free bonus of being able to participate in the Autocross event) needs to be downloaded from here (http://www.houston-bmwcca.com/driving/carcontrol/2006%20Car%20Control%20Entry%20Form.pdf). The form must be mailed and postmarked by March 5, so there is not time to waste, plus registration is limited to first 40 people.
If you want to sign up for the Autocross event on March 11, that can only be done online here (http://www.houston-bmwcca.com/OnLine/OnLineRegistration.htm). You must be a BMWCCA member to register for the Autocross outside of Car Control School participation. Registration closes on March 9.
I will be signing up for the Autocross. I have also volunteered to help with the Car Control School last week but I still have not heard from them accepting my offer.

This is the schedule for the Car Control Class. You would have to leave Austin by mid-afternoon on Friday.
·A classroom session from 7 - 9 PM Friday evening, Marc 10th, at BMW of Houston North (I-45 N @ FM1960). The Friday session is MANDATORY for anyone driving on Saturday. Note: Sandwiches and soft drinks will be provided on Friday, courtesy of BMW CCA & BMW of Houston North.
Driving practice at Houston Police Academy (HPA is located at the corner of Aldine Westfield & Rankin Roads, just north of the Beltway) begins at 8:30am Saturday, March 11th and will run until approximately 3:30pm. This will include braking, slalom, emergency lane change, skid pad and other small group exercises. Lunch will be provided.
Your registration fee also includes entry into the regularly schedulled BMW Autocross event for Sunday, March 12th, at HPA beginning at 8:30am, finishing around 3:30pm. This will give you the perfect opportunity to practice those new found skills!

Well is anyone from Austin signing up? We have to postmark it by the 5th. I'm all up for it as long as a few others are going

I wouldn't be able to leave that early on Friday as my boy's surgery is late AM.
I will catch the next one...

Well, it was a great weekend.
The class had a record setting 60 people attending on Saturday. People showed up with all kinds of BMW's, a Ford Explorer, :yikes: a Lexus ES350, Altima, Maxima, Subaru Forester AWD. People of all ages came, from high school students to people showing gray hair. Also there were a couple of mom/daughter and dad/son groupings. It was fun to watch the Explorer go through the avoidance course, slalom, and wet skidpad. :D Some people just had way too much power to their disposal. They did not really understand that it was a matter of refining your driving skills and not just mashing the gas pedal and killing the cones.
Today many of the students showed up for the autocross event. People were tracking car such as a Honda Acccord, Nissan Sentra. It was fun watching the noobs. Unfortunately that meant that I only had 4 runs. The high of the day was when a Covette went out of control and went perpendicular to the course and nearly hit the timing table. :eeps:

Sounds like fun.
Was this by chance the Explorer?
Isn't bringing an Explorer to an AutoX is sorta like bringing Slash to an AA meeting?

Actually Saturday was the Car Control School. I guess the owner of the Explorer wanted to explore the limits of his car. :dunno:
