First Service on X5 7,600 mile about 6 months old.

I am taking the X5 4.4 in for the following problems:

1. Tailgate rattles
2. Engine vibrates at idle in drive.
3. Climate system fan will only go to half speed.
4. Climate system with a/c switch off will not produce any cooling. Yesterday it was sunny but 20 degrees, due to sunny condition the car got hot, turn the temperature down to 65 and still no cooling. Switch on a/c and then the vent opened and got cooling.
5. Wiper blades need replacement
6. Will they rotate the tires?
7. Should I request any other service?

Hmm, don't think you will get new wiper-blades after 6 months..You certainly can have them, but they it's unlikely they are covered after 6 months..:dunno:

6. Will they rotate the tires?

Yes they will, unless you have the staggered tire setup, then I don't know. Our rotation + balancing cost $48, so no its not included in the maintenance plan

Wiper blades are covered for the duration of the maintanence plan.

If you want cooling, it depends on the outside temp. Even in cold weather, without AC there may not be much cooling. Since AC isnt on, there's no way to regulate the temp of the air that comes in except by regulating fan speed. When you turn AC on, then it can determine how cold the air needs to be in order to cool the car down.

You mean rotating tire is not covered?

Engine vibrates at idle in drive.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 4.4 V8 changes speed and vibrates at idle when stop at a light.

Anyone else have this problem?

It also bucks when cold

Yes, they are, but that doesn't mean that they are replaced every 6 months / everytime the car is in service since the intervals of the X5 are short in relation to the other (newer) models (7-series, 5-series etc.).

I don't see a reason for replacing them every 6 months...:dunno:

My service advisor replaces my wiper blades every time I ask. I've not specifically driven up there just to get a pair (well, a trio, if you count the back one), but I have brought my X5 in for mid-interval oil changes (that I've paid for) and a couple of times to get a pesky power mirror replaced, and he's always changed them for me, no cost.

He always marks the invoice "Customer states wiper blades are not performing up to BMW spec." The technician always marks "Replaced wiper blades under warranty."

Unfortunately, the wiper blades aren't that great, and sitting in the hot hot sun, or freezing in the winter degrades them pretty quick.

After six months the wipers need replacement.

I always replace them every six month on my other cars.

A clear veiw of the road is priceless.

Will they rotate tires for free?

Do others have issues with the 4.4 V8?

Do other have rattles?

They don't rotate tires for free. We paid $48 for it.

Will they do it for free at 15,000 miles?

That's a positive surprise! Well, I guess I'm still fixed to the level of service we got from our previous "Ford Red Carpet Lease" with free-maintenance. They didn't replace the wipers after 2 years so we did it...

I think we did it at the 15k service........not free. Unless someone else can prove otherwise.........
