How do you like your Nav? Easy to use or a PITA? I will have mine in about 2 weeks.(X should be in) My Audi system is fair. I'm thinking of buying a Garmin 350 for my other cars. The Garmins are very user friendly.

The nav is good (with the recent software update) and better than getting a standalone. It really makes driving more pleasant and stress free. You can't get really lost and driving is usually more efficient - saving you time and money.

However, it does have it's problems:

First and foremost, when you input a destination, you have to narrow down your choice from every single city in the US (assuming you live in the US.) Most people don't travel cross-country everyday. It is more likely that they would travel within the state they are in or the surrounding states. BMW needs to address this huge usability problem by having a radius limit setting. Secondly, the menu system (and dial) is a bit awkward to use. Sometimes I know the name of the place I want to go to but the menu forces me to search within a category. Looking up places in different categories is a good idea but making it the only option is a bad one.

The telephone interface on the nav has it's share of problems. The most frustrating for me is when I have to dial a number that is not in the phone book. I have to use that silly dial to enter each digit. There's got to be a better way. There are also NO alphabetic letters next to each digit. If you need to call 1-800-FREE-411, how do you know what "F" is associated with? You don't. The address book is also a pain. It really needs to keep addresses and phone numbers and manage them better. They need to look at what PDAs do in that regard.

BMW - Fix these problems so we can brag about how great the BMW nav is!!!!

There are definetly some bugs with the NAV but overall it is awesome. The recalculation time is pretty short and that's handy if you miss a turn. We did european delivery and it made that so enjoyable (since our other adventures left me with my nose in a map for the majority of our time in the car.) I think that the knob control instead of the touchscreen isa bit cumbersome, but like most things once you get used to it there's no problem.

I think the phonebook is great. The people I call most I have recorded for name dial and it's awesome. Those people that I only occasionaly have to call I stop, enter the number, and away we go.

No technology is without bugs, and I 'd rather be an early adopter and learn how to owrk around those than to sit on my hands and wait until things are perfected.
