I was reading in one of my magazines that there will be a coupe and perhaps a wagon but no convertible M3 in the E90 - has anyone also heard this and is it true?

No, but an M3 wagon would be a nice surprise.

latest roundel mag said the same thing. hard top convertible is too heavy for the M group. But they claim they are going to do a M touring:str8pimpi :yummy:

BMW also said they weren't going to do an M version when they released the Z4. :dunno:

If demand for a cab version exists, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they end up with one further in the life cycle.

I concur. BMW is always releasing statements saying they will not produce this or that....but if they think they can sell enough of them they will build it.

I believe it was in Autoweek.

I think an M3 E90 convertible would be not much less than a 6 series. :dunno:

The E46 M3 vert tops out at almost $70k. We would be looking at close to $80k for the E90 M3 vert loaded.

There are making an M6 vert though.

The M3 is a great car, but it is based on a model starting at mid $30's. That is a huge jump in price range for the same platform.

Just my 2 cents.

If they make it look a lot different than the current E90, it may be worth moving up to.

the regular E90s will, the M3s will not have a hardtop convertible.

Just curious, and I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but what about a sedan? How could they do a touring but not a sedan?

I think M sedan is more likely then a touring. some of the recent spy photos where of a M looking sedan, it had ZHP looking rims on it.

I dunno, I just find it hard to believe that M3 will not come in it, if they will have a cabrio soon, it would not take much to have them in one
...plus the additional weight of cabrio it would be too much for a 07-M3 400HP too bear, why not!

This is the first I heard of this, and frankly not even BMW is this arrogant to think that M Cars should not be convertibles. When I purchased my M3 in 2003, I shopped around and spoke to several different dealers, and guess what, they all sold more Convertible M3s than they did coupes (granted all dealers were either in GA or NC.)

Anyway, I have already placed a deposit for the new M3 Convertible with the dealer I bought this one from and am happy to say that I am number two on a list over 20 long for the E90/92 M3 Convertible. I hope I don't get my deosit back because it is not made.

By the way, what magazine said this?

I agree - and I am number 1 on my dealer's waiting list.

I would like 2 see bmw do 8series again and do an M8 V12 with a similar engine that they did for the McLaren F1 that would be tight, and I think they are working in an M7, and I would like 2 see an X5 Mpower edition to compete with the cayenne, bcuz I saw a video of one X5 with McLaren F1 engine and wow that X5 was fast as hell.

People kill me when they talk about the price of the new M3. 420hp is not justification for a huge 20-30k price jump. I can see the M3 convertible 66-68k loaded but not a ridiculous 80k. C'mon guys. The only way a M3 convertible could possible cost that much if it was the M3 CSL hardtop convertible.....and I don't think they plan on building one of those.

It's hard to understand their thinking, if that is true.
I know everyone has different opinions, but I have a hard time understanding how anyone who does like convertibles would pay the price of an M3 for a car that the top won't come down on!:)

As for performance, there is a slight decrease because of the additional weight, but not enough to make a significant difference unless you want it for a track car.

I have not noticed any lack of satisfactory performance in my M3 Cab so far (10,000 miles on 2006) !!!

Another thought: The 2006 production cycle is rumored to be only planned for a few months, then a hiatus before a new series M3. If there is no new Cabrio, then a well kept 2006 M3 Convertible should become something of a collectible and possibly hold its value very well! --- Life is good......

I can't see a world where an M3 wagon emerges but no M3 convertible or sedan. IMHO, there should atleast be an M3 coupe and convertible with a 4 door sedan and a wagon being added later.
