looks good man!

the offset of the the rear wheel looks the same as mine....I think you may find that the rear will rub when you hit dips in the road at any speed over 30mph, and most definately if you ahve passengers in the rear. Check your rear tire sidewalls periodically for signs of contact.

I was debating between the AF128s or AF132s. The 132s are the look based on your pics

Did you get any special deal on them? How much and where?

You need to tint those windows though.

Hey kato what size lip you have in the back and how wide is the rear wheel. Also what size tires are you runing right now front and back. Iam asking because you said it rubs when going over dips.

Are your wheels of correct offset. Because my wheels just came in and they are Asanti as well and Iam in debate of what tire size to go with 265/30 all arround or 265/30 in front and 295/25 in back.

I have also come across Toyo tires who have a tire setup of 265/30 and 305/25. I wonder if the 305/25 would be a better choice or would it cause greater rubing.:dunno:

Anyways, your car is looking nice.

hey kayani post some pics of your car after you get the wheels installed. what size rims did you get? how big is the lip? what size tires did you use? sori too many questions here cuz im about to get rims too...also are you going to lower it with lowering springs or are you gonna leave it stock? hows the ride on them 22's if you do change springs or leave them stock? :bigpimp: thanks bud

Kayani_1

I will update you and post pics when I get them put on my car. My wheels are already here they are Asanti Forged 3 piece in 22" with 10" wide in front and 11" wide in back as far as width is concerned. The lip in the front is 3.5" and the rear wheels have 5.5" lip. I didnot go with 6" lip because I remember D2 and Jackspart tell me that 6" lip can result in rubing and 5.5" might be a better option if I dont want any rubing. I dont know how true is that :dunno:

But I guess I will find out once the wheels are mounted on the car. I didnot order my tires from the same guy I got my wheels from. Because one can get a much better deal at tirerack or 1010tires compared to what those guys charge for the same type of tires. Iam trying to figure out If I should go with 265/30 and 295/25 setup or 265/30 and 305/25 setup:confused: .

But upto this point I have never seen anyone go with 305/25 in back tire size. Which makes me wonder if it is possible without causing rubing issues.:dunno:

Anyways, if I cant figure it out in next few days. I will just go with the safe bet of 265/30 and 295/25 size tires.

Maybe kato can tell us what size tire he is runing as well as the spec on his wheels.

A few other dealers have tried the 305 and it rubbed, or the car would rub when loaded. We have not done 305 yet, 295 is already very wide

Kayani_1
08-02-2006, 03:46 PM
Thanks for the info D2. I was told the same by gary at tirerack. But one thing is tirerack doesnot even sell 305/25 size tire. They have 305/30 but no 305/25 as they dont even carry the only vender Toyo tires who makes them.

So I dont know if he was just talking of 305/30. Because if that is the case I have no doubt that it would rub because the side wall is much much taller then the one on 305/25.

The reason I was looking into 305/25 was because it had tire wall height of appx. 76 and 295/25 has the the tire wall height of appx. 73. Which is a very small difference in sidewall height. Anyways if you all ever try that setup on your 7. Please let me know because I would like to know how it works.

As for my tires I ordered thru tirerack and went with the safe bet of 265/30 and 295/25. They should be here soon.:)

I concur on the 295 vs 305, and D2's rims look better with the straighter bars, in my opinion which really don't count for anything, but it looks more BMW refined... not saying yours are bad, but they are somewhere lost between trying to be bling and factory. the concept is there, just not 100%, then again it can always be the picture also!?

Nice car and nice rims as well. I like 22's, but with the roads in my city/state, it is a no-no. No matter how good, and how well one may roll their fenders, the monster sized bumps and pot holes will still some how cause damage.

I am a safe/cautious driver, but I just really don't want the headache of having to watch the rode for pot holes, etc.

Very Nice!

I am curious - how did it affect your ride quality?
Also, does it affect your BMW warranty if you have someone else change your wheels? The reason I ask - I had a shimmy in my steering wheel, and it turns out my new tires were a bit off. The dealer put three new tires on under warranty and now it runs great. I am sure they would have refused to replace/fix aftermarket rim/tire issues...
