This was posted on our local board but I'm interested in an answer myself...Anyone?

I'm sure this has come up before, but are any of you experiencing valve noise or clicking after a hard run at the track or auto-x? Do they make an oil pan baffle for the E36 like they did for the E30? I already added extra oil to the engine. Any other solutions?

I just run about 3/4 to 1 qt high.

I have heard many, if not most, E36 M3s make that ticking noise at the track and auto-x - I think it's a common problem remedied by adding about half a quart of oil.

i think you might be talking about the hydraulic lifters in our engines "sticking" which is a common thing in our cars. seen them happen on E36s and well as E46s at the autox.

adding and additional 1/4 qt of motor oil helps it a little, but doesn't make it completely go away...

At most 1 quart can be added.

I wouldnt add any more than that.

This is a reply from another forum...

After a little research, I have found 2 potential solutions to this.

The first is the stock oil pan and oil pump from a 1995 M3 with the S50B30 engine (Euro engine). It has an internal baffle system that will fix the problem.

Here's the part numbers:
11 13 1 317 285 Oil Pan (about $675)
11 41 1 740 154 Oil Pump (about $253)

The second solution is the oil pan and pump for the 95 GT International version of the S50B30. That's the racing version (something like showroom stock, I guess). This version has 2 pickups.

Here's the part numbers:
11 13 1 404 656 Oil Pan (about $735)
11 41 1 404 521 Oil Pump (about $980)

There might be other parts necessary, like bolts and spacers and things. My parts guy
only got this far because he couldn't do it cheaper than Motorsports Imports.
