Admittedly, the timing isnt perfect, but it's great for future reference.

Alright X3 drivers, now its time to use the car for all its worth. No, I dont mean go off road. With the warmer weather, it's time to pop that moonroof all the way open, open all the windows full down, and up the speed volume settings. Show that you dont gotta be driving a convertible to enjoy open-air driving. Don't let cool evenings or temps stop you; do the same but just turn on the heated seats and/or steering wheel. It gets real fun when you got that huge moonroof, open windows, and the typical BMW dynamics......from the winter, you probably forgot how loud/nice that engine sounded.

Make sure on at least one occasion, you turn down the volume of the audio, and punch the throttle and nail the redline a few times. And then toss it a few corners. You'll remember and enjoy your X3 more :)

With the warm weather in DC, couldn't resist posting reflections on the past weekend. Gotta share the enjoyment and tips! ;)

On a sidenote: I'll get pics of my X3 soon.

Remember to keep the revs below 4000 for the break in period!!

I will try to apply the same restraint when mine comes in a month.

I'm in the DC area too and that's exactly what I did this week end, a little trip on the beltway with the roof and windows open, I forgot how nice that engine sounds.

Can't wait for summer here. Get the winter tires off and slip the sport tires on. We have a small taste of summer now. It's 17C, but the rest of the week back down to freezing. AAARRRGGG.

Soon enough though.

I wish I could do that. . . . here is what the weather was like today.

7:00am Rainy cats and logs (yes logs) and only 4C

2:00pm Rainy on and off (when it's on it's really on) foggy and about 13C

10:00pm tonight (forecast) Rainy, approaching Zero and then turning into freezing rain and snow.

It's like Mother nature couldn't make up her mind today and just said "F%#@ it, Give 'em a little of everything"

But remember if you are going fast enough and it's raining outside. . .you can still get that moonroof open and not get wet. . . .question is how fast?

Ordered mine last week in Feb. It's in the produced but not shipped category now. Expecting it mid to late April. Spending the time wisely, learning what's new in the 10yrs since I've owned a car.

Yea once it gets too humid/sunny, window's gotta go up :(

Perhaps I should start a new thread for this, but if anyone is reading this or they care a lot about fuel economy, I think I've found the optimum fuel economy and speed point.

If you set cruise at 110 km/h or just a tad under 70mph @ 2500rpm, you can get really good mpg values. On a relatively flat hwy, I set cruise at that speed and returned an average of 31.5mpg.

Btw, I have the 2.5 with auto, which is geared shorter than the 3.0i or manual, so this might not apply to all.
