a friend of mine told me this is one of the best intakes on the market. It looks good from what I can see but I was curious if anyone has ever seen anything about these.

I don't think they are smog legal. I always thought weapon r was more for the Japanese import cars.

smog legal?

...as far as japanese import cars goes...I know the japs can make some pretty good stuff. A friend of mine has a weapon R on his eclipse and he said he swears it added 20 horses. I figure the price is right for it. I'm probobly going to go with it.

A friend of mine told me Weapon R was JdM mAd TyTe yO!1!1!!! He also told me that his TYPE-R badge added 47 and 1/2 horsepower to his eclipse! Weird coincidence.
Have you heard of a company called Dinan? Apparently their stuff is universally accepted as "the sh!t" around here, and they just so happen to make a carbon fiber CAI for our cars that is boner-causingly beautiful.

Id be curios to know what makes one intake better than another.

Is there any empirical evidence that these do any good at all?

To me they are just not worth the added cost and maintenance issues for what little performance increase they MIGHT offer.

yea, and Dinan also has a heavy price tag stuck on all their stuff too. So you are telling me the carbon fiber pipe makes it draw air better? Wow and I always thought it was the filter that makes the intake, not the foot of pipe that connects to the mass air flow sensor. Boy was I wrong.

Before your use of dramatic sarcasm becomes bigger than your knowledge for cars, you might want to take a look at the testing of weapon R filters v.s. several others, including K&N and Conforti.

And you'll find that none of them offer very much improvement for the $$. Do you have any actual dyno graphs with before and after results from these intakes? :dunno:

And considering you have to wash and re-oil the filters regularly you now have another item that needs maintenance. No thanks.

I figure if I get even 5 horses out of a CAI I'd be happy. 1 or 2 horses here and there really add up. Plus if I don't gain anything what so ever then I still have something that doesn't look so crappy (e.x. stock airbox) and they sound good.

Also like I said my friend has dyno sheets of the before and after for his eclipse.
