i know someone talked about this before but.......i got this pinging on acceleration. i'm running 93 octane, got new plugs & wires. somebody said timing chain cuz it's got over 150K miles??? any advice?
Could you describe the pinging? Is it under load or at idle?

The term "ping" doesn't really illustrate much for me. Describe in more detail so we can help!
What's it sound like? Where's it coming from?

it's like valve pinging-- like bad fuel but i'm using 93 octane, have new plugs, new filters
Have you checked your oil level?

Could be carbon build up in your engine. Get a bottle of redline gas treatment. It removes the carbon build up through most of your fuel lines, injectors, etc. It's good up to 20 gallons of gas. If your check engine light is on, see if it's your O2 sensor. That may possibly be the cure. After all this preventive maintenance, your car should be running smooth!

1fast325i is correct. You have carbon built up on your valves. Do a hotsoak with Seafoam.

I want to do this on my 93 318i but dont know where to put it. I did the gas already but also wanted to put it in the oil. Would I need to change the oil after that? Should hold off putting in a new O2 sensor until after the seafoam? I heard alot of smoke come out the tail pipe after doing it.
thanks for the help.

I just bought a bottle of prestone fuel system cleaner. It says it helps restore lost performance by cleaning injectors, intake valves, and combustion chamber deposits. Its good for 4000 miles. How does this sound?

we use this stuff http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html get the one BG44k in the can @20 bucks. It one of the best stuff out there. If you do it run your car down to about 1/8tank then put this in and drive some then refill with 93 octane and you will be good to go.
