... and as you might have guessed it, getting groceries. Wow, I really didnt expect to see one, but talk about a sleeper. MB is only importing about 600 of them. There was a older guy driving it (late 60's). Is BMW ever going to make a M5 touring? It seems like an oxymoron, but it is good for bragging rights.

Wagons look stupid IMO. BMW may make a touring M5. Thats kind of stupid though, you buy an M5 to go fast and carry 4/5 people but when you make a wagon M5 it gets even more heavy and slower.

An M5 wagon makes more sense than the big heavy M6 coupe IMHO. If you're going to lug around all that heft you may as well have some useable space to show for it. :dunno:

Not sure an M6 compares to a family wagon.:dunno: Clearly different objectives there.

I can't imagine an M wagon. It would be like creating an XM5.

I agree with brandon, if you want space in the back and want to go fast at the same time, just get an X5 4.8is.

I saw one at Costco a while back. I wasn't even sure what I was seeing, but sure enough...

I really wonder why someone would want a car like that? :dunno: Makes no sense to me.

Fast wagons are badass. Weren't all of the previous Audi RS4's (before they came stteside) Avants? There's something to be said for a grocery getter that blows away most of the "sports cars" on the market. Plus it just makes having a fast car that much more practical for those who need to talk the sig/oth into buying it.

There are a least 5 of them on the lot the last time I was a Keyes MB in Van Nuys. I was there looking at a C55 and walked up to one of the wagons and peered into the window. The sales guy promised me "a real good deal" on any of the wagons, said he'd been flooring them for over 6 mos with no intrest.

I'll never forget the pic of the E55 wagon in Car & Driver. The car was at the starting tree at a dragstrip, smoking the rear tires while the two kids in the rear were playing pattycake.

Well, you actually get a closer to exact 50/50 weight distribution with the extra 100 lbs that a wagon adds. And when you get up to a car with 500 hp, really how much difference is that 100 going to make overall.

Plus, (IMO) the rear end on the new 5s is possibly the ugliest rear end I've ever seen on a BMW.

And I agree with LmtdSlip, if I wanted a truck, I would certainly not by a BMW.

FYI, there's a guy with a purple E34 M5 Touring (European gray market import I believe)who has like a crazy fan following in OC.
