Hey, I got my 650 2 nights ago...I love it. Is there anyway to turn off the seatbelt warning, it drives me nuts. I know in the thread regading "your least favorite features" a lot of other people complained about this aswell. Has anybody figured out if it is turnoffable.

Here's half sh!tty pic I took at the dealership this weekend, I got the tints in with the price 15% all around...I think it looks good. I'll be putting on my rims and suspention after the first 2000 kms.

Car looks great. The best way to turn off the seatbelt warning is to fasten the seatbelt. Is there a problem with doing that?

I think he is referring to bong, bong, bong, that occurs since you usually insert the key, start the engine, and then fasten your seat belt. The bong should delay a few seconds. To avoid the bong you have fasten the seat belt while holding the keys and then procede to start the vehicle. The bong should not really occur unless the car is in drive. However, I am not sure what they would do for the manual folks.:dunno:

So that's the new 19s for the 6er. Not bad at all.

Congrats and welcome to the family!

Looks great! However, I think you would be hard pressed to find nicer wheels. The ones on the car look very nice.

Is the car new? It looks used in the pics. Or is it just the picture/wash job?

I do?? No, I don't. I insert the fob, put on the seat belt and then press the button and start the car. Hey, that's why the start button and the fob insertion are now separate tasks!

Maybe true. If you insert the key without starting the engine, the bong still occurs.

Of course since you have a worthless start button they felt bad enough and gave you a bong break? :dunno:

Why we are on the subject of bongs, where is Bee at? :dunno:

1. I just tried it. There were two mellifluous, melodious chimes. No bongs. And then it stopped. Just enough of a reminder to fasten my seat belt. Not aggravating at all. Maybe 645Ci owners, or Canadians, need more of a reminder.

2. Bee is not a Bong - he's a Wang. I think he is at the bank depositing all the money he got for the sale of his M6 position at his dealer.

I met up with Bee a few hours ago for a protracted chat on the philosophy behind, and execution of, a few vehicles (including two-wheeled varieties) with which we are familiar. His pockets looked empty

As stated previously, ierrahh, I like those 218 wheels better than the 121 elipsoids that will be fitted to my coupe when I take delivery of it in Munich. Since they haven't started building it as yet, I thought it wouldn't be a problem to have BMW fit the 218's instead of the 121's. My ED salesman tried to get BMW to do just that, but had no luck

You didn't pay him for the DVD. Then he left and collected the $15,000 he sold his M6 place for.

When you get your new rims, you want to sell your 218s? Those are nice wheels!

Do what I do, take a sharp knife, cut the seatbelt and take out the belt clip portion. Throw seatbelt away. Click clip portion into seatbelt buckle and the car will think the belt is always clicked in.

No more bongs, EVER!! Yay-yayee!! Da Dawg Pound strikes again!! Who da man, now, homey? You gots a problem wit' dat, suckah? Cuz dat's how da Dawg Pound rolls in da hood!! 4,000 pounds of steel comin' at ya, know what I'm sayin'?

They're stock rims but you have to pick them when you order the car. You didn't choose your rims? I think they're only an option with the Exec Pkg but I'm not sure.

No I have no problem wearing the belt but if I'm in a parking lot or just getting in my garage (thats french for car hole) I usually take it off and the bong starts and doesn't stop....even if the hand break is on.

The 218 wheels are the standard on the Canadian executive package this year.
I'm pretty sure they aren't available in the US.
However, for anyone who wants to try, the option/package code for the 19" Star Spoke wheels is 2C7.
I'm in Canada, but I specifically ordered the 121 ellipsoids.
The 218's look ok, but they look almost identical to the stock 18"ers and I think the ellipsoids look more sporty (and easier to keep clean).

ierrahh ... nice looking vehicle. I should get mine next week, same color scheme as you except I got the dark birch instead of ruth. As for winter wheels, normally I think they'd drop you down to 18" rims, so you might want to figure out exactly which combination of tires you'd use with those 218's.

There is no executive package in USA and our 121s are with the sport package. That was covered in another thread where we determined that BMWNA does not sell executive packages to US Americans, only Canadian Americans.

Lawman - No need to be "politically correct." Most Canadians I know don't mind referring to themselves as "Canadians" and to us as "Americans" rather than the mouthful "United Statesians." However, together with Mexicans and a few people on some islands east of the east coast, we are all "North Americans."

lawman800

I know. I do that because my Canadian buddy went to China and is living it up with a local girl who thinks that he'll take her to America. We laugh about it because we agree, she'll be with a NORTH American, not an American, per se.

They are available in the US, but not mounted on a new 650, sold through a US dealer, for either domestic or Euro delivery. When I had my dealer try to have the 218's instead of the 121's mounted on my ED car, BMW declined, BUT my dealer could order them for me (at $2900) and swap them after redelivery. That was a nonstarter for me.

BMW's attitude on this has left me a little, well, grumpy :soapbox:

That's $2,900 and you give them your new 121s without using them so they can turn it around and sell them to a non-sport packaged 18" buyer for $4k? Screw them!

Not quite that bad. I get to keep the 121's, sell them, or use them for boat anchors or something. Still, what kind of sense does it make to deny the buyer the option of receiving the car off the assembly line in Munich with a wheel in their inventory, when the buyer is perfectly willing to pay the difference in price, if there is one, for the different wheels?

It makes one think that the idea here is to generate the retail sale of an extra set of wheels, and the resulting profit for BMW and the dealer. But the actual result will be my purchase of aftermarket wheels (at no profit to BMW) if I don't like the 121's after living with them for a while. Plus some loss of goodwill...

Total agreement. We buyers should be offered the choice of any wheel in BMWs inventory (correct offsets, of course) when configuring the purchase. In can't be any harder than building one with or without L7 sound, HUD, SP, or mat colors.
