Hi, I recently sent my car in for repairs at a BMW dealership. The costs of fixing the car with labour costs were getting to high for me, so i have sent my car to a independent repair shop who works on Import cars. I was just wondering, will i need to get a OEM BMW winsheild, battery, and brakes or will a aftermarket parts be good enough???
I am scared about the front winsheild because, i don't in any way wanna mess up my radio reception with a aftermarket windsheild, but the cost for a OEM is ridicule. So please give me some advice. Also, what aftermarket batteries are good for this car??? PLEASE PLEASE, HELP ME ON THIS MATTER !:)

You can get a good after market windshield that is better then the OEM as OEMs are soft glass and that causes pitting. A good battery from Batteries Plus will save a few dollars too and aftermarket brakes as in rotors and pads are also very very good. I will be getting an aftermarket PPG windshield, I have a Battieries Plus battery and I run Brembo rotors with ceramic brake pads that cause less dust and have the same braking modulation.
Hope that helps...

Yes, but will the aftermarket windsheild have any impact on my radio reception???

As I said befor BMW window glass is softer and actually poorer quality then a good PPG replacement. The only thing you lose with a PPG windshield is the little BMW logo in the lower left corner of the windshield.
Mine is crap on my 325 and will be replaced soon with a PPG replacement.
Do a search on bimmerforum and get a second opinion if you wish....

Now is this PPG you speak of, cheaper than OEM windsheild? I don't think i would need a second opinion, i find your statement valid. Anyways I am getting most of parts aftermarket, brakes, windsheild battery & etc. I don't wanna pay an arm and a leg for OEM parts right now, because this car needing lots of prats right now. Costong me almost $3000 to get it on the road cuz it was sitting around for 2.5 years. Whats worst is, its not even passing emisssions. So i guess the car will need some other parts too. IM GOING TO BE A VERY POOR MAN SOON !

Are yo certain this is the car you want to put back on the road?
Seems to me you could sell it and take the money that you were going to spend on repairs and buy a nice clean 325.

Are you refering to a E46 325i or E36 325i???? I don't have the cash right now to buy a new car E46 Bmw, hence university man, currently on allowance, wouldn't want my parents to buy me a new E46 Bimmer. If your talking about a E36 325i, than I see no difference between my 318i and an older 325i. I'll be spending more money with the E36 325i fixing it up, just like with the 318i. Why would I want to buy another problem car??
I am mostly getting everything fixed my 318i right now, and I am sure after some nice fluid flushes, it will pass the E-test. Thanks for your advise. I am looking at buying a 2002-2005 325i E46 next year. But for now, my very preppy and gas miser 318i will have to do. I had this 318i since 2000, so i bought it when it was nearly 4 years old, and this car gave me a lot of problem free driving. Plus we don't buy cars that are more than 4 years old, honestly if i had the money to a E36 325i, i would rather go for a 1997-1998 Audi A4 1.8T, or VW Passat/Jetta, cuz seeing how the gas prices are, buying a car with a 6 cylinder engine doesn't add up. If i want power i put the 94 octane gas from sunoco, and i got all the power i need plus gas milege.

Can anyone tell me, which aftermarket car batteries are good for my BMW 318i?
