R-12 to R134

I have a 92 325i with r-12 ac. The ac is not as cold as I would like it . My mechanic said he does not work on bmw ac systems because they are too complex. I was just wondering what is involved in converting a r-12 system to a r-134. I saw a kit at walmart for $30 and according to this page it is not too hard. Thank you

to go from r12 to r134 you will need to have your sytem drained. and you should replace the ac dryer, cooler, lines and so on. cuz they are 2 different types of gases and when mixed it is possible it can turn into sludge. thats what i heard..and the systems arent anymore complex then a ford or chevy.
