Has anyone else has any issues with an M5 clutch slipping when the car is stopped and you are trying to take off quickly? It seems like my clutch slips and there is a little smoke. Thanks,

I don't know what year your car is or what the mileage is, but the E39 M5 clutch will burn out quickly if you apply full power before the clutch is fully engaged.

Although many (including myself) are still going strong on their original clutch, the 9" OEM version is considered to be too small. Volumes have been written on this and the potential replacements discussed at www.m5board.com.

Good luck.

when I had my M thats not an issue, just get your clutch replaced. Dealer quoted be $1600, but outside non-dealer car mechanic expect to pay about $900 parts/labor.
