Please please helpI have been having this problem with my sunroof and windows. this happened after I woke up one morning and the battery was dead and they have not worked since. I have bought a new comfort relay (old one doesnt look blown) and it was slightly different looking then the last but it does fit just looks like wires may be positioned different or something. I have heard that it could be the circuit breaker for the windows on the dash panel. I have looked and cannot find one.. Does anyone know if there definatly is one on my 1997 bmw 328i??? I have noticed also the back lights do not work. The only other problem I was having around the same time when all this occured was the phone jack for the car in the middle console. I smelled a burning smell and saw smoking and realized that was where it was coming from. And thinking maybe this had something to do with the windows I called around a did some research to find out that was only a phone jack. Well we cut the wires and disconnected just the end part that was melting and taped them all up with electrical tape. Dont even know if it has anything to do with the windows and sunroof. That problem has been taken care of but still no windows or sunroof working. Please if any one could help me with this problem...... I am so appreciative ...also the sunroof will close bu using the key on the outside driver door.

I figured the problem out... i changed all the fuses (#7, 35, & 43) even though they were not blown, and that worked. My vanity lights, windows, and sunroof work again. I never had to change the comfort relay.. so if anyone needs one I have a brand new relay..

You can probably return the unused relay to the dealer, who knows.

Glad you got it working.

Maybe have the cable harness who goes in your Tailgate a Cable break, it`s a often the appearing problem with the E36 series!
