Has anyone made or bought a camera mount for an E36 M3? I've seen "generic" units that are designed to attach between the headrest and seat, but that's not possible on my vader seats.

Gee, how many times have I replied to a thread like this..? :p
For starters, if you don't mind blowing a wad of cash, try here: Speedmount (http://www.speedmount.com) .
I built my own from parts at Home Depot and a camera shop for about $35 total. See mine here: Homemade version (http://www.spinningloft.com/cars/bmw/mount/mount.html) I'm sure you can tweak things to make it work on an e36 as I don't know what your seats & headrest posts look like.

I followed pretty much the same home made procedures, but I made mine out of wood instead. I decided to get a DV camcoder last minute before the track event and need to make a camera mount quickly. I tried using box aluminum but they were too hard to cut with a heck saw in my backyard.... then I happened to notice the pile of wood that had been there since who knows when. Made a camera mount in about 20 minutes. :dunno:

And how did it hold up? :yikes: Got any pics? I can't picture what this would look like or how it would work... :dunno:

I will post some pics tonight or tomorrow when I get my digicam from home. It's really simple - once you see the pictures you will know how I did it. However, I don't know how to post pictures here. I assume it's simply uploading the pic to the site via the attach file option, but if there's another way pls let me know.
As for how it holds up... well, it is wood, so it's not too strudy. However, the videos turned out fine. I did wrap up the whole thing in black electrical tape, just to match my black interior :lmao: :lmao: I was planning on making a mount our of some kind of matel at some point, but just got too lazy.

The problem with the Vader seats is that, unlike yours, the headrest has sides that come down and overlap the sides of the seatback.
I think something along the lines of your mount could be developed but it would have to go toward the rear then around to the side to clear the headrest.

I can't find my digicam, so I will have to post the pics later. Sorry!
