I have never heard of anyone spraying on a 540 ....or any 5 series for that matter. That looks like an NX kit. What size jets are you running? What kind of safegaurds did you decide on? Have you tested it out yet? Results?

JimLev has done this on his 540 for a few years now. He's an online pioneer for the sprayed 540. He's up to a dual 90HP shot with a progressive controller. He maintains that used safely, nitrous is great way to get great power.

In fact, JimLev spent this past weekend installing an M5 dif in his 2000 540i6. Great guy with a lot of experience.

RACKEMUP, did you ever set up your NOS higher than 100 yet? What kit did you get? I'm looking into the kit from Zex (82019). It is a dry unit, what do you run? Is there anything else that I would need? Thank you,

i wouldnt suggest a dry kit, go with the zex 82021 or 82021p, thats what i ordered and its a wet kit, im having it installed this week and i cant wait. im starting out with a 55 shot and working my way up to 100.

This is my typical Install I am giving it now a 160hp shot
I am now installing titanium Pistons which I got from GAW Racing and I am giving the babe a 250 hp shot

This ride is rocking NOW

By the way the trans is a steptronic but I think I ill have to do something about it especially when I kick in now the car revs so fast and it goes ( Trans fail safe prog)
so as a round up for this I installed an RPM Activated swithc to my NOS KIT which kick the NOS in on 200RPM and switches off at 6000 RPM

Good luck and dont hesiate for any frthur info

The installation is so easy

I am going to start my install this weekend..................

I've been contemplating this for months now for my 540, trying to work out anticipated problems. I just flipped over to this section to see what's going on and never expected this thread. This is perfect.

I've got a couple questions and thoughts.

1st) Ignition. I understand that the ignition advance should be cut back a few degrees, especially if you have a performance chip that advances the ingition. That's problem number one. I could get the original factory program put back in but that would hurt everyday driving.

But then recently I heard that's not important if you stay under a 80 to 120 hp adder, V8 engine of course. So now I don't know.

I also read that for a stock motor one should not exceed 20 hp/cylinder = 160 hp. That's fine since I was think of starting around 35-50 with maybe a 100 max adder.

2nd) Intake manifold distribution. A wet system seems the way to go. Everyone sells kits to inject before the throttle body but I know that the distribution inside the intake manifold will not be even to all cylinders and that the nitrous and the gas will not be proportionally distributed evenly so I figured the only safe way to do it is spray each runner. But to do that I would need to build/add a bung to each runner so I could mount 8 wet injectors.

Well. After a lot of calling and writing to a number of adhesive and plastic firms it turns out that almost all the plastic manifolds made for all motors are made of nylon 66 and none of the adhesive firms makes anything that can bond to nylon 66. So although I don't know for sure what my 540 plastic manifold is made of there is a very good chance its nylon 66, or so the experts tell me, and I did converse with experts. One said he could build me a whole prototype manifold with the bungs and all but it would cost about 5000. So building bungs on each runner is not possible or at least not feasible.

On the other hand lots of folks are running a single spray wet nozzle and getting away with it. But maybe they are damaging their motor and expect to rebuild it in short order.

So, to those of you that are doing this please help me here. What are you guys doing? What do you recommend?

Thanks for reading my ramblings. Frank 540/6

No offense meant here. If you don't know the difference betwen dry and wet you should do some reading and see what its all about. You will need to know more than that to even get started. You can distroy an engine very easily very quickly. Some of the nitrous firms that sell equipment explain its use. Just googling nitrous will tell you a lot in a short time.

Spend a couple hours reading and you'll know alot more than most.

Nitrous needs lots of extra gas to burn with it or you're in big trouble. Nitrous is just the oxygen part.

A dry system sprays nitrous only and the extra gas comes from a separte source and they are mixed before they get to the combustion chamber.

A wet system sprays nitrous and also the extra gas that needs to go with it, all thru the same nozzel at the same time.

I'm sure you meant 2000 rpm and not 200. Please PM me so we can talk, thanks.
