Would like to do projector beam fog lights......

Hey, i'm new here so..... be gentle.

Basically, amongst the list of "things i'd like to personalise", I am sick of having regular looking fog lights below my projector beam head lights, so have decided to search for a fog light assembly with a projector beam inside it.

On eBay I regularly see E34 fog light lenses (with the projector beam) and am wondering if they would be the same shape as an E36 assembly???????

Now, considering that I have an E36 M3 kit on its way, would it be easier / better looking if I moulded some smaller (and round) E46 assemblies into the space before getting it all painted????

You gotta admit it - the regular fog beams just look out-of-place :confused:

From what I have heard the projector fog's are really worth the hassle and performance. It sounds like the amount of light is pretty low compared to oem fogs. I would maybe consider installing HID's in the OEM's...

You mean to say aren't really worht the hassle and performance? Agreed, I think the projector ones look out of place.

Are yuo getting an E46 M3 kit, or the E36 kit? If you're getting the E46, then definitely do the round fogs, but if it's the E36, keep it with the OEM ones, I think those look best.

Yeah, am waiting for the E36 M3 kit....

The thing about the OEM fog lights is that they are the only rectangular lense on the front of the car, and look out-of-place when all lit up.

Over here in Australia, we have the parker bulb (5 Watt) which is in the hi-beam lense, and the H1 bulb for low beam in the regular spot alongside the hi-beam. The corner lense has an chrome/orange bulb which only ever lights up when it flashes as an indicator.

So at night time, the ROUND hi-beam lense is illuminated at 5 Watts, the ROUND low-beam projector lense is illuminated at 55 Watts....... and then we have the bulky rectangular fog lense at the bottom.

I just thought that the car would look a bit better with a more subtle fog light....... especially considering it is a dark coloured car, where as the lense isnt...... something in the region of 2 inches in diameter?

And like you said..... the OEM fog beam doesnt really do squat anyway, other than lighting up the ground directly infront of the car...


PS.... HIDs??? I'll pass thanks..... the aim is to TRY to keep the costs down..... I'm only gonna sell the car in 5 years anyway (like every other car ive owned) HAha
