I have a 1995 BMW M3, which is near and dear to my heart. It is time to change the front struts. I went to the dealer and was quoted as follows:

Front Spring Struts
Right # 31312229988 $275
Left # 31312229987 $275

Guide Support
Part # 31332228345 $104/each

Plus Tax and Labor.

So here is my dilemma, do I such it up and pay for the OEM, or do I buy after market. I am not oppose to after market it is just that I know nothing about the brads out there.

Check out the Koni SA cartridge replacements available through Tire Rack. They are a little more difficult to install as the oem housings are used, but they work great, and are adjustable...

Monroes (on backorder since forever...)
Koni Single Adjustables (as mentioned, my choice)
Bilstein Touring or Bilstein Sport (same valving, just Sports are designed for shorter springs)
Tein (mostly a Japanese car tuner, but now offering German car stuff)
Advanced Design
Ohlin
JRZ
Moton

The last 3 get pretty $pendy...

Also Koni double adjustables, both off the shelf and the TC Kline versions.

Actually Bilstein Touring are softer shocks, HD (Heavy Duty) and Sport are the same valving but the Sport has a shorter shock rod for lowering. Tourings are a good choice for someone wanting a more stock ride, but slightly better handling.
