i love my X3, but find that i miss one option that i now wish i had gotten - the xenon lights. other than that, my X3 is absolutely perfect. well, except when it's dirty, when i wish i'd gotten silver instead of black, but that passes... :D

if you could go back and order/choose your X3 all over again, what would you do differently?

Get navigation, premium package and 113 wheels...

Yeah, I want xenons, too. Wouldn't change anything else.

I would have gone with the 3.0l engine. The 2.5 is fine at sea level (where I live), but gets pretty anemic at higher altitude.

Get rid of the black bumpers like they did for the 06. Other than that, nada.

If the X were solely mine..I'd have a 6 speed. Other than that..it would be the same. I wasn't sure about the color when I ordered it but I'd do the same X again. I'm really enjoying it.

having had a 3.0 as a loaner, I finally noticed what i have been missing...

I would change from a 2.5 to 3.0. I would also get the Xenon adaptive...

Just a thought for those wanting xenons...

I bought a G35 with halogen lights. I upgraded to xenons by buying used xenon housings on eBay and installing them myself. I think I ended up paying about $300 for both (they are the cheaper reflective type). Luckily, the xenons plugged right into the same plug as the halogens and worked great.

I have no idea if this would work with the X3 but it might be worth looking into. Below is a link to an example on eBay. It is missing the ballast, bulb, and the bulb holder, which is not good, but other affordable complete units may turn up from time to time. It took me a little while to get nice right and left units for the G.

Kind of wish I sprung for the nav system - my car is becomning littered with printouts of mapquest directions! One of the reasons I didnt opt for it in the first place (aside from cost) was the general lack of storage space in the car - I needed the extra storage bin in the dash for sunglasses, cellphone, etc.

If the X were solely mine..I'd have a 6 speed.

:stupid: :(

Other than that, no complaints.

I really had forgotten how hard it is to keep a black interior clean. That and not getting the optional wheels are the two changes I would make.

I would have added NAV and heated seats.

For those that would have ordered a Nav.***** a Garmin 350(got mine from www.jr.com $738+) The size of a deck of cards..it is superior to anything I have used so far & portable.

I actually have a Garmin Streetpilot but teaching my spouse how to use it, remember not to leave it on the dash, etc., is an exercise in futility. The cost of OEM nav in the X3 would have been an acceptable price to pay for the aid it would be for my spouse to navigate to unfamiliar areas.

NTM the fact that map updates for the MK4 are less expensive than map updates for the streetpilot.

I would have ditched power folding mirrors, cargo net, wood trim, AT, cold weather, and privacy glass. In its place, I would have had sport pack, PDC, premium sound, and possibly nav. However, my dad took this off the lot for below invoice price, so there was no choice.

But truly what I would have done is gotten a 325i SMG. That was what I had for us to get, not the X3.

Probably would change one big thing and some small things. I would not get the sport package. full stop. my wife hates getting in or driving the car, its a great ride for when you want to give it some gas and hit the road, but for when the family or relatives or clients are on board and you want to cruise smoothly, even on the best of roads its just too wobbly and bumpy for comfortable cruising. i know its impossible for a car to be all things to all people but after a full year of the car thats where im at. I would also not but the incredibly expensive bmw blue tooth kit. sound quality is poor (for those on the other end listening to you) and functionality is woeful. why couldnt we have the great systm in the 1 series? also the bmw iPod kit is utter crap, delays of up to 5 seconds when jumping tracks, having to press the random button to enable fast forward then remember to switch it off again to skip tracks- a shocking piece of kit. i only have it because my icelink plus died. other than that a great car.

Voice assist option to enable bluetooth phone calls thru my stereo. I'm happy with everything else.

Aluminum trim instead of wood.
Maybe premium sound.

1. Al trim instead of wood.
2. Better gas mileage. (out of control) :dunno:

Exchange the Cold Pkg for Premium Sound. Be a tough sell to the wife though, as it's her '06 X3, so she's driving it on the cold (NM?) mornings. And would also like to try the Servo steering.

Other then that, we love it. This is the first time that she has been truly ENTHUSIASTIC about a vehicle. Even the purchasing process itself; typically she would rather have root canal, with a free colonoscopy thrown in, than deal with buying a car.

I would not have gotten the Navigation... The Nav in the X3 is so poor compared to the E90 330i. For all the complaints about iDrive, that damn Jog Dial on the X3 Nav is by far worse...

I wouldn't change anything, yet, only 1300 miles on the X3. and far as the Nav goes IMO the screen is a little bit smaller than the E60 and it takes very little time to adjust to using the knob rather than the I Drive,I would get it again especially if your doing a European Delivery.

PDC would have been nice, as well as the 113's I was dying for but could not find anything out there with that and the other options I wanted.
