Has anyone had a cracked oil sump? I have a 1999 M5 and I noticed a wheel wobble and excessive oil usage, so I took it to my mechanic. He found oil on my brake disc and found a small fracture in the sump. There is no signs whatsoever or recolection on my part of any impact to cause this.
My questions are:
Has anyone had this happen to them, and if they have do they know if it is possible to weld the sump. Does anyone have details on what meterial this is. Aluminium or a Mag Alloy?
Any feedback whether to repair or replace would be appreciated or if this is a manufacturing weakness.....
