I bought my first 540i E34 1995 one month ago. I impressed with the power and the quality, but disappointed with the complexity to repair and maintain the car. This site gave me a feeling that a lot of nice bimmerfest are around and wailing to help and share the knowledge among the forum member. I went once to the dealer and decide never go back again. It was unpleasant experience and I have more problem now than before their “high quality service”.

Welcome to the boards and I'm sorry for your problem with the BMW dealer did you go to. Do you only have that 1 BMW center or is there another one that you are able to go to but have chosen not to? As well, there are independent shops, but if you do want to do your own service I'm sure the E34 board will be able to help you out.

Welcome to Bimmerfest Hanai. Don't get too discouraged with your car; maintaining your 540i will be easy once you get yourself and the car dialed in. Wrap your brain around the information posted in the forums, and don't be afraid to ask specific questions...
