With our luck, it will be standard on the production version.

Nah, you can get a 3 series w/o iDrive so I expect the same for the M3

Ive never driven a car with I-drive but is it really that horrible?
Im probably getting a M3 during the second model year or so and I wanted to get the i-drive.
I have a deposit near my area for a M3 for msrp, but giving that away hoping for improvements and more options during the second model year.

Exactly! My choice after doing a little research before spending 40k on my car.
Gee, I guess all of the problems/issues, posted here and every other board with Idontdrive are fabricated BS. Give me a break Chuckie. One less thing to worry about and besides, I don't like the double-hump dash, especially on the 3 series. I can't tell you enough how happy I am, that I can just breeze by when I see another thread on the subject, with the problems and malfunctions of the system. I enjoy my car so much more because of it. In my case, without it!!!

Of my 5 BMW's, 4 did not have iDrive. My 5th, BMW, the one with iDrive, has been the most troublefree.:bigpimp: I sure like the LCD screen and simpliciity a lot better than a myriad of half burned out LED pixels that vary in intensity as you rev the motor.

That's great! You're one of the lucky ones.
The #1 reason I dont want IDrive......I just dont like the double hump dash on the 3 series. To me, the car is not big enough inside and the dash looks bloated. Definately looks better on the 6.
#2......after messing around with it at 4 different dealers and doing a little research before my purchase, I just did'nt think the system was that great. I did'nt like it, that's all. Plus, the screen froze-up on several trials, at 2 of those dealers. I do like the concept but the product just was'nt there yet.
OK, let me ask you guys this...these pics have been floating around for awhile, and I have a suspicion that this thing ain't got a V8 in it. I'm not saying that the production version won't have it, I'm saying this mule doesn't.
That rear muffler looks pretty much like the one on the E46, yet all the other BMW V8's or V10's have two separate muffler "packages" for lack of a better word.
If I'm wrong, why would they use the same muffler setup as the E46?

It looks like it does have dual exhaust yet quad tail pipes. You can see there is a dip in the middle of the silencer and there are pipes comming out of both sides, where as the E46 only has one pipe going in and 4 pipes going out.
