Just read the article on Germancarfans.com RE: E90 M3s spied in California.

Article indicates "Expect to see the M3 in showrooms at the end of 2006. It will come in saloon, coupé, cabrio and estate guise."

I know we here in the US can expecte the Coupe, Cab, and maybe the Saloon. But, an Estate version in the US? Could it be?

Is BMW finally listening to their customers?

Or, was the article written by/for Europeans?

I highly doubt that they will release even the sedan in the US, much less the Touring (estate) version.

HOWEVER, if they do....I'll buy one, once they've worked out the kinks with the V-8 :)

I understand the sedan will DEFINITELY come to the USA, just as the E36 did.

I personally have seen the E9x M3 Touring and it is HOT.
My guess is it will NOT come here...a shame

An M3 wagon would be very cool, but I am not holding my breath.

Will not happen for the same reasons why Audi will not bring over the RS4. (low demand)

why? :dunno:

Just a guess, but he's probably just a coupe/vert type of guy and wants some exclusivity...
to keep for himself.

No more convertibles, according to the rumors (the folding hard top is too much of a heifer for the M division).

An M touring would be a very cool thing indeed.

I'd love it. It would be everything I want in a vehicle

what would be so bad about a soft top?

To the best of my knowledge, the E93 will not be a ragtop. Folding hardtop only.

edit: if I were in the market for a new M3, a convertible with its attendant weight penalty and cramped back seat would put it at the bottom of my list. However, an M touring would be a useful garagemate for the M Coupe I'll be ordering later this year (assuming I can afford to support 2 M cars on my salary, that is).

Take a look at my sig pic

Yeah, wagons are really boring when I'm stuck behind old farts on the track who don't have a [expletive deleted] clue how to drive their M5s.

And they suck on the autocross course, too. I guess that's why my un-fun factor wagon is leading a class that it doesn't even have enough points to be in.

Oh, and I forgot about the better weight distribution over the coupes, too. That's just a pain in the ass.

You're right. Wagons are lame.

Maybe DJ_INHALE is afraid of getting spanked by a wagon?! :dunno:

Wagons are awesome!!! They're a little more rigid than a convertible as well! With all that power and the stiff suspension, I'd imagine there's a hell of a lot of cowl shake and chassis twist on an M3 vert. I've only driven a friend's once and it was new so I'd imagine creaks and rattles would appear after not to long.

Indeed they do. My 02 M3 convertible has some squeaks and rattles because the suspension is just so stiff and harsh. My 95 M3 with 125K miles on it is actually so much quieter when driven down the same streets. Yes there's cowl shake on the convertible as well but I'll accept it because when the top is down and the weather is nice you "almost" can't beat it.

On the downside you can't really haul crap with a convertible. But then that's not why I bought mine. On the autox course my 95 is much quicker, fun and I get much greater satisfaction out of it.

An M3 wagon or sedan would pretty much round out the line nicely.

But just think how much more FUN it would be taking your M-Wagon and out-driving full on sports cars WHILE hauling your kids and your groceries? That would be so satisfying I believe.

Just imagine what it would be like when you're out driving your convertible in the mountains thinking you're going fast when an M3 Wagon (or not even an M) comes up to you and keeps pace while the guy has his little girl in the back seat saying, "Daddy, I'm bored!"

West Desert, uggggh = yuk (to each his own I guess but ugggh)

Who wants to live in a place like that. If I was looking for boredom and wanted to bake in hot dry weather I'd live ther.

I like the ocean just on the fun factor.:flipoff:

What a pipe dream.

It would be bitchin that is for sure. What a sleeper it would be!:bigpimp:

This would be like bring over the diesels as well, not likely to happen. Not enough market demand. Europe loves wagons. USA loves SUV's. I think the big wagons of the 70's/80's left a bad taste in people mouths, kind of like parachute pants.

I don't think we can expect a coupe, cab and sedan to all show up at the same time....if at all. End of 2006 sounds reasonable but I think it would only be the coupe at first. Maybe a cabrio and, hopefully, a sedan the following year would be great.

being as young as I am (early 20s) I just cant get a mental picture of driving an M station wagon, but I wont rain on anyone's parade It just doesnt "click" with me. As I stated earlier post in this thread "to each his own" I know bentley had a station wagon even

ps to the guy with the kid in the back seat, no need to speed with a young one in the back seat. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt you dont do that, but no need to even mention it

For those of you wondering what an M3 wagon would be like to own - let me tell you, it is awesome. I got real lucky and got my hands on the Rogue Wagon. They did a real good job with the S54 transplant. I then worked with the guys at Evosport to re-do the suspension and add even more horsepower. It's my only car and is the ultimate no-compromise car. It's great on the street and one of the fastest cars at CCA Schools.

An E91 M3 Wagon would be sick - just plain sick. If BMW brought it to the US... lets just say the Rogue Wagon would be for sale. I hope they do.

BMW is missing a small yet potentially lucrative market niche here. If anyone's listening, I'd buy an M3 or M5 wagon (manual transmission only) at sticker price in a heartbeat! I LOVE fast wagons with manual transmissions! About the only choices are the Volvo V70R and the Audi S4 Avant, since BMW doesn't import 'em and the E55 AMG is slushbox only.

(And the kid has her own car, the wife has her own car for the groceries but still the dogs can't drive yet.)

The next car I get will probably be a wagon to replace the 330xi in another year or 2. I've test driven the V70R (quick review: yuk) and the S4 Avant (quick review: yum), I wish Audi would bring the RS4 Avant here, but that will never happen. When BMW brings a non xi 3 and 5 series wagon over, I will look at them again too. But the M would be more fun :)

Are you guys sure about the release date?

Is it in late 2006 for the German release?

Beewang says late 2007/early 2008 for the US.

Is it in writing somewhere?

The biggest upside of an M wagon is that it's a total sleeper. Get a neutral color, debadge it and burn everyone. Plus, you're under the radar with police because you appear to be a sensible adult--not the tailhappy, tire smoking, jackass you really are.

I'd rather see the highway littered with German wagons over sloppy American SUVs, which provide similar levels of utility for the driver that doesn't require 8" of ground clearance.

An e91 M3 would be

If BMW is not bringing over the e91 335i then they are never bringing the M3Touring unfortunately. Looking at bmw.de and seeing things like 535dT make me:cry:

Yup, I saw the 4door M3 today on the 101 near Agoura Hills. I'm still kicking myself for not having my digicam with me!

dont get stuck in the mindset that wagon=****ty

wagons are fun and are the quinessential Q car/sleeper. I for one would order a 335 touring if it were available here in the states, let alone an M3 touring!

I would ditch my E36 M3 quickly if I could get in to a 335iT (RWD only, please) an M3 Wagon would be my wildest dream...

Now if we could get them to do *that* (the 335iT) and start putting LSDs back in their regular cars, that would be even better.

I agree - the M3 wagon would be really cool, but the 335iT would probably be more practical for me.
