Hello all
At the risk of incuring the wrath of the Bimmer faithful, i will expalin my problem......please be gentle!!
I have fitted a K&N induction system to my car and now i seem to have lost low-end power. my 328i was never as quick low down as she was above 3k revs but now seems as if the mixture is too lean. Does the MAS not deal with all that so it only uses as much air as it needs?
Above 3k revs she is amazing and the sound is truely brilliant, but if i put my foot down in 3rd at 2k revs she makes the noise but doesn't really go anywhere until over 3k. do i need an ECU re-map?
does anyone have any ideas (i know one of them will be to put the OEM box on, but lets say for now that is plan B) :)

No, that happens. The CAI gives u high end power while also robbing you slighlty of some lowe end power. To compensate and compleiment the intake underdrive pullies work great. Pullies and an intake are great toghether. And it will restore the lost low end power.

Thank you for that Death2000 (great name), will look into it now. Was worried i would be ripped limb from limb for even asking.
can anyone suggest some good pullys to use?

I haven't used them myself, but when I do get pullies I'm going with Turner Motorsports.

I think Death2000 has it right on, I got the CAI and have little low-end power below 2500 or so. The pulleys I have are from Rogue Engineering and probably help a little, but in reality the inline-six motor is made to run above 2000, anything below that and you are going to lag and have poor power. You don't need to re-map the ECU; however, new programming would let you feel even more difference. Throw in the Conforti Shark and it compliments the intake very nicely. Have fun!

what is a Conforti Shark exactly?

for the OBDI it's a chip. but for the OBDII i think it's a programing tool, kinda like the service light reset ones. it remaps your bmw software to improve acceleration, increase the rev limit and remove the top speed limiter.

OBDI=up to 95 (you need a chip)
OBDII=96+ (you need software)
