I've currently got an 03 330i Performance package. Sway bars, SPC camber plates (resold by UUC).
I autocross on Kosei K1 17x8.5 wheels w/ Kumho V710s on them.
A few realizations I've come to:
I want to sell these camber plates. They work OK and are easy to set and all that, but the ride quality is slightly worse (less rubber in the top shock mount). One thing to note is that I believe they're the only ones that will work in a non-M E46 w/ stock suspension.
Autocrossing on race tires certainly makes me faster, but doesn't necessarily make me smoother. As a matter of fact, they may do the opposite - allow me to be less smooth. Essentially they're not getting me to where I want to be, driving skill wise. Maybe I'll just go back to autocrossing on street tires.
I'm thinking maybe I'll:
1) Remove the camber plates, sell em for $200?
2) Sell my Kosei K1 wheels (17x8.5, with 245/45/17 Kumho V710s mounted), $800?
3) Sell my OEM performance package wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport tires... these are essentially BRAND NEW. Due to an accident (hitting a rock on the fwy) I got 4 brand new wheels and tires about 2000 miles ago. No idea what I could sell these for... the wheels + tires would run you $2800. Maybe sell for $2200?
4) Buy some LIGHTER wheels. Gary, the Tirerack site lists the BBS RG-R 18x8 with the Diamond Black finish (http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/DisplayWheel.jsp?wheelMake=BBS&wheelModel=RGR&wheelFinish=Diamond+Black+Painted) as "unavailable." Until when? Forever?
I'm thinking I'll get 18x8 w/ 235/40/18s all around (staggered looks good, but come on, smooth and balanced is my goal here). I'm open to other wheel suggestions, but I really want <=20lbs/corner. That'll shave at least 5lbs off each corner now.
5) Maybe buy some Koni FSD shocks. Maybe.
Thoughts? :)
