Jon,

Do you know if BMW plans to offer the 330ci M Sport Package to the US anytime soon?

( I believe it includes anthracite headliner and M Sport kit)

Thanks in advance,

Dear Tag,

Unfortunately, I have seen or heard nothing that
would support this whatsoever...

I know (because I can "see" the members who log in
here invisibly) that BMWNA visits from time to time.

Let them know that you want it!!!

Didn't someone semi-official make an announcement to the effect that they were bringing it over, and that it would be something ridiculous, like $5K?

I seem to remember a thread from a month or so ago.

That thread was refering to the so-called ClubSport package...

I don't think the M Sport Package has that ridiculous rear wing. :D

I too remember this thread. :dunno:

BTW, the package is already available in Canada, and is $5200 CDN.

Just in case BMWNA reads this, I want the club sport package to be available in the U.S. That would be the perfect option on my new 330cic (Not sure about the wing though). While you re at it, I sure would like you to bring back Tannin red leather. Then I would be able to buy my ideal 330cic.

Yes, please bring the package over so Lori will finally settle on a car! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :p

Seriously, I think the package would be pretty popular (sans wing) and would be great if it had some performance enhancements rather than just appearance... a beefier M suspension would be sweet.... :D

hmm... maybe the lip spoiler instead of the big wing would be alright too... :eeps:

(edit) Oh... and Tannin would be awesome if it came back as an option... :)

Doeboy,
Thanks for the back-up. It's funny cause it's true.

330cic,
Alpine White,
Tannin red leather,

CSP!

Tag,
It would be awsome if you could buy that car here in the U.S.
IMO, the CSP would fill a nitch by appealing to people who desire just a bit more sportiness from a 330ci but don't really want an M3 for various different reasons.
If the price was somewhere between 5k and 6k I would buy it in a second.
If the package does come over to the U.S., BMW should allow the rear wing to be deleted or, as Doeboy suggests, offer the M3 lip spoiler as an alternative. Some people would probably like the big wing alot. I am not one who would. I don't really care for spoilers on anything, with the exception being a Porsche 911. I would have to get the spoiler on that car.

Lori,

I agree, I think BMWNA should definitely offer an option for those who'd like more sport from their 330ci without having to go all-out for an M3.

Although, I don't think the Clubsport package is exactly what I'm looking for. (Or is it?) The package I'm looking at is called the M Sport Package. Is the Clubsport and M Sport the same...? Below are details I found on the Canadian site. The cost is $5200 Cn. which roughly translates into $3322 US.

I just have a bad feeling that BMWNA is going to offer this package during the 330ci's last production year (Like the 540).

M Sport Package
============
Anthracite Roof Liner; Black Aluminum Cube Trim; High-Gloss Shadow Line; M Multi-Function Leather Sport Steering Wheel; Sport Seats; Sport Suspension; M Aerodynamic Package; 17" M Parallel Spoke Alloy Wheels - Style 68M, 225/45 R 17 & 245/40 R 17 Performance Tires. $5200

M Aerodynamic Package

M Double spoke alloy wheels, 17 x 7.5 front, 225/45R-17; 17 x 8.5 rear, 245/40R-17 performance tires

Better check your exchange rate there chief, as of today 53,150 Euro = $53,714 before any service charge.

In all fairness, this one had the SSG:thumbup:

Is it possible to special order a 330ci with SSG in the U.S.? I am guessing the answer would be no, but I have to ask.

330cic
Alpine white,
CSP,
PP,
Tannin red leather,
SSG,
CWP,
Valve-tronic 248 hp motor,
PDC,
Nav,
brushed aluminum trim,

That's what I want and I'm sticking to it.
For the time being anyway.

Where did you get 248 hp from? Did they announce that's what the valvetronic would produce that?

Lori
11-13-2002, 08:53 AM
No one anounced that. That is just what 10% more would add. Wait a second, it would be more like 246.4 HP wouldn't it?

If you're willing to give up a manual transmission, VinceTopasBlau can outfit your steptronic car with a paddle shifter that will behave very much like an SSG...Except it's got none of the benefits of NOT having a torque converter.

That's about as close as you can possibly get to an SMG/SSG 330Ci in the U.S.

Don't automatically assume 10% power addition. The 1.8L valvetronic unit did NOT gain any HP over the 1.8L Double VANOS unit, but a 14% fuel efficiency bump.

The reason that the 4.5 liter V8 gained so much in HP has as much to do with the variable intake runner as the Valvetronic. Do not assume the I-6es will get anywhere near the same sort of performance boost until BMW actually release it.

Why isn't SSG available in the US?

Its all part of the marketing strategy....The way BMW AG (and BMW NA) works is this.

1) Initially: Introduce new models (in low end, i.e. 2.5 Litre)
2) 6 months later : bring out the larger engine (3.0 Litre, bigger V-8/V12 engines on the larger car.)

3) After a couple years (about 3 in U.S.) bring out the M models (if available. i.e. 3 and 5 series)
4) In the last couple years of the model cycle (year 5~7) Bring out the M-clubsports option to boost sale.

based on BMW's record, I suspect you will see SSG in U.S. in MY 2004 or 2005, to "boost" the interest in E46.
So it is just a matter of time.

The picture posted by beewang is a 330Ci with the M Sport II pack, not a clubsport. You can tell the difference between the two from the front spoiler - the clubsport pack has black plastic "splitters" below the fog lights, whereas the M sport II pack does not. Of course, if you get to see the rear of the car, you can tell by the large touring car spoiler that the clubsport has compared to the M3 lip spoiler on the M Sport II pack.

FYI: In Germany the M Sport II pack is available on any coupe/cab/saloon/touring. You can only order the clubsport pack on 6 cylinder coupes. The main extras that the clubsport pack has over the M Sport II pack are:

Individual Paintwork (Estoril Blue, Velvet Blue, Carbon Black)
18" Double Spoke Style 71 Alloys (although MV's are also available)
Half Leather / Alcantara Sport Seats
Short Shift Gear Lever
Reduced Soundproofing
Touring Car Rear Spoiler

That Velvet Blue is beautiful.

Even with three shades of blue now available on the E46, I think there's room for another one like this....or bring back my favorite BMW color, Avus Blue.
