Grand Touring tires: Bridgestone Turanza LS-V vs Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus

I used to have Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus on my 323Ci (OEM) and early this year I decided to go with Bridgestone Turanza LS-V. The ride quality's pretty much the same but new tires definitly sound quieter than the 6-yr old Michelin. One thing I noticed and it's very apparent and consistent, is that I'm getting 1-2 MPG gain with the Bridgestone Turanza. My driving style didn't change at all, and I've been taking the same route to work M-F. BMW recommends 30psi on 205/55VR16 and so tire pressure on both sets are the same. Is it just my imagination, or something like this is possible? BTW my stat doesn't come from the OBC which tends to over-estimate by 2 MPG consistenly.

Do any of you pay attention to MPG before/after changing tires? I also noticed that many of you would rather have higher psi than BMW's recommendation. What's your opinion on the optimal psi on mine?

Heavier tires would hurt the gas mileage. The difference in rolling resistance is a big factor as well.
