Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the existing trim with wooden trim as fitted new? Do the black plastic bits just pop out? Vehicle is a '96 323i saloon:dunno:

my boss took the wood off his 5 series and went down to a body shop and had it all painted the silver color to match his car and it makes it look awesome.. thats just an idea of what u could do.

I was looking at some trim for the wife's volvo, the kits i saw just fit on top of the existing dash.
Personally, I would be really careful about this.....we had a toyota landcruiser with aftermarket wood trim (previous owner) and it looked bad and separated really quickly....I also see a lot 6-10 year old cars and the wood trim doesn't look good...faded, etc....but this is my take.

In my opinion, if your car didn't come with it, then don't even bother. The only way i would go for woodtrim is factory and let the dealership install it. I was condering buying a 2000 528i with sports pkg a few years back, and it didn't come with woodtrim so i called up the dealer and he gave me a $3000 estimate for console, doors, dash and etc. For a 10 year old car i wouldn't even bother.

Fair call guys - thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated. I will be spending some time in the city and have a lot of fun trawling through the wreckers yards, so I thought I might have a crack at getting wood, but I reckon you're right, so once again thanks.

I prefer a more darker woodtrim. Light ones look kinda cheesy on dark colours.

Thanks for the info on the wood trim. Probably a bit out of my cost range, but I know you can buy it at least.
