Hello,
I have a locking problem with my 1992 BMW 325i. I've searched all the other central locking problems on this board and didn't really find any that were similar to mine. All of the electric locks don't work. As a consiquence, I cannot get into my trunk or use the back doors because they are permenently locked. The front doors will unlock manually (i.e. using the key on the outside of the door), but won't unlock the other doors in the car. I've checked fuses and they are all good. I've heard there is a central module that controls all the locking and unlocking of the car and that could be the problem. Do you think this is the case? If so, where is this module located and do I need to replace it? Thanks for your time and expertise!

I ended up finding and pulling out the locking module. If I purchase a used one, will it need to be reprogrammed? Or for that matter, do new ones need to be programmed? Or am I barking up the wrong tree with thinking its the central locking module?

I bought a central locking module off of eBay, so hopefully that will clear up the problem. Otherwise, I don't really know what else to do other than take it to a shop. Bleh, I have the feeling thats gonna cost an arm and a leg.

The central locking module made no difference. I've heard that a wire in the trunk harness can also cause problems with the central locking. Do you think that it could cause the whole system to not function at all? Any other ideas on what might be causing this?

Have you checked your keys?
If your key is the valet key it won't operate the other doors or the trunk you might want to get that checked out!

That's a weird problem brother. I was told that the driver's door runs the whole locking system. Happened to mine and I got it fixed (cost $500), but yours is way different to mine. Mine still double locks from the door, but you have to unlock it from the trunk (very weird).
You may be on the right track with the wiring harness that goes into the trunk. Check it for split wiring. This can happen after years of opening and closing. You will need to solder any broken wires together and re tape it.
