HELP! 1996 convertible top reset procedure different??

I have a 1996 328i convertible. I have pulled the lever to disengage the motors and they now need to be reset.

I've followed the reset procedure as documented in other posts (for the fully electric 1997 models), but it doesnt seem to be working. Im guessing that the procedure for the partial electric hoods like mine must be different? (I have the one where you manually unlock the top from the windshield with the hand grip, and then press the button for electric opening.)

Does anyone know how to reset the motors for the part-electric tops?

The procedure is the same. The motors may not be disengaging and that will keep the cables tight and will not release the top latches. Shoot me a good email and I can send you the 1 meg file I have for these convertible tops, it has pictures and diagrams too.

I am having trouble after friend pulled the lever under back seat and top won't go back up. I reset and the lite is blinking but top failes to close. The top is down, is there any help you can provide? fltoddster35@aol.com

File sent. I need more information but read the file first in regard to what fuze should be pulled. My experience is that many times the passenger side micro switch is not making contact with the boot down thus the system can't open what is senses is not even closed.
You might push down hard on the boot on the passenger side but read the file first....
