Earnhart Ford in Tempe, AZ
well I pull up there and I ask do you have any of the new shelbys? The overwieght redneck responds "Ya, its $90,000"
WTF ! 90 Gs?
It was a coupe too. Isnt sticker like $40,000? :thumbdwn: :tsk:
Any one know what those are selling for? I checked out ebay and saw a few around in the high 40s.
I personally would go for the Saleen supercharged SC281 anyways over the shelby, but 50 g over sticker? Arent Zo6 going for $75,000?
****Has anyone ever driven the 2000 cobra R******?

of course I would wait for the vert
but if I was going to drop 90gs on a vert it would be as follows
1. Mas syder
2. AMG CLK 63
3. Jaguar xkr
or Id buy 6 used sebrings and just place them all over the city and If I am in that area I would just drive the one new me.

I think the term is called "asshole tax". That might explain the cost....

Saleens are ****. All the s281 does is add a supercharger for the most part. The 351's are the big boys, still way too much imo, but you never seen them.

They're still American quality/service even though you're paying $90k for the car. You get to take the car to the same crummy dealer as every tom dick and harry in your town and the same grease monkies get to play with your car without supervision.

Wait 6 months, and you'll get one for sticker (or below). Personally, I think it's a pig. Yeah, it's got power, but it also weighs almost 4000 pounds. As for the Saleen, buy one of those if you enjoy massive depreciation.

Saleen has been sort of the Dinan to the Mustang world for a long time. He's more expensive than most other tuners, but does high quality work and you could easily drive his stuff daily without worry of failure.

They are raping you the car lists for around 45 grand, wait a 6-12 months or check another dealer.
I doubt the Shelby will be a pig around a race track... muscle, big brakes, lowered and tuned suspension... it will be fast.

Its also extrememly noise heavy. The weight distribution is much worse than a Mustang GT because the supercharger and big cast-iron V-8. Road and Track compared a base Vette (100hp less than the GT500) with the GT500 and the Vette smoked it around the track, and in a straight line.

Heaven forbid that a service visit would force you to consort with the plebian masses.:tsk: :tsk:

The magazines didn't get as quick a 1/4 mile as I expected for that machine either. The regular '03-'04 Cobras are easily modified for more speed than this, by spending maybe $3K.
But at that mark-up you'd be nuts to buy one instead of the new Z06.

I worked for a Saleen dealer. Never saw sooo many poorly built cars. We had so many of them in the service department on a regular basis.c

When I asked the local Dodge dealer about putting down a deposit on the Hemi Challenger
He said "Oh yeah, we'll get you in line right behind Jay Leno.

Save your money and look for a low mileage 2003 or 2004 cobra. They run about $27- $32K. A larger s/c pulley and a Dyno tune and you have a legit 500 HP car that is almost 150 pounds lighter than the 07'.
