Live in Denver area and just wanted to know if anything is going on up here. Even if it's a small group of people I would still love to attend. Need to make likeminded friends in a new town! :)

i cant speak for the local bimmer crowd, but there is usually quite a bit going on in the local vw/audi crowd.
there was a great euro GTG last year (primarilly BMW) with a drive to red rocks and some nice highway cruising...i was hoping to catch some hint of another event like that here...but it looks as if this regional forum doesnt see too much play. regardless, the local vw/audi crew usually gets together every sat night at 8pm by the pepsi center (at the connoco) then goes on a little drive from there...usually into the foothills. no meeting this coming sat (people out of town) but we occasionally get other brands as well, a couple bimmers, some subis, and the like. feel free to join if you wish, all car nthusiasts welcome!

i made 15.6 last time out as my best time...although it was my first time out so i didnt really know what i was doing. Ive revised my launch and lightened the car a bit for this run, so im hoping to get a better 60ft time as well as a better trap. well see what happens!
im also going to run some "special sauce" in the tank that should reduce that a bit as well!
hoping for 15.1-15.2ish given the expected temps tomorrow (90deg f+)
my car, truthfully, is not built for a drag...its a smaller turbo with tons of low end torque perfect for a short track like autocross. Also a beefier rear sway was added to reduce both body roll and understeer (stock "sport" suspension is fine for the autox application with that exception). The problem in the 1/4 mi is that it spools the turbo well outside of its efficiency range...hence why ill be using race gas to keep overall temps down throughout the system...allowing me to maintain higher boost longer.

Ted,
You post over at RMCB5 right? I saw your photos of your Audi, it's red? That's one sweet looking ride! I'm also looking for bimmer events in and around Denver. My car is completely original, although I'm discovering all sorts of mods I would enjoy thanks to this site. It would be nice to meet some fellow enthusiasts.
And AW328i it sounds like you're new to Denver. How long have you been here?

Hey juju, been in aurora for 2 months now, and was in the springs for 10 years prior. Denver, how would I get there from I 25 heading north, and what goes on at these events? Just hanging out or shenanigans? :-)

i-25 north to auraria pkwy. exit, and at the first light as you come off the ramp, turn left. connoco is there on the left. we will be there at 8pm or just after. ususally people come show up between 8 and 830, then well go drive somewhere. this weekend im not in for a long drive because i am meeting friends around 10, but its a great group...very laid back.

AW328i, I thought maybe you were new to CO in general, but that's obviously not the case. Although you should get yourself well acquainted with Denver-proper (that would be all those lights just west of Saudi-Aurora.) J/K of course.
As for the GTG's hopefully there will be shenanigans, otherwise what's the point? ;)
JuJu
eta: Technically that was a triple post, but nicely done.

Glad to hear you had a good time! I would have joined you but I have company staying with me. I'll definitely catch a future GTG! The cold doesn't bother me, I'm more concerned about Ted serving me my ass on a silver platter. ;) Something tells me I should check how many points I have on my license before I hang with you guys.

we keep the sat night GTG's going through the winter, weather permitting. no mountain drives...more activities (bowling, etc) from time to time.
we should try and find more euros to spice up the GTG more. there has been a mini attending lately that is the balls...very cool car. is there another more active rocky mountain bimmer forum? it would be great to get more ppl involved!

i hear ya...there was, the summer before this past one, a great BMW GTG and drive i really enjoyed...the problem was there was no follow-up, nor was it put together on a BMW interest site (that I am aware of)...there must be a way to get the word out there...im sure that there is more than enough interest locally given the # of BMWs out there....
