Seems too low, especially if it has a carbon fiber roof....

And SMG?! Where is the DSG-style transmission?!

Wow...it is priced really low considering what the car has...
Too bad I still can not afford it...:dunno:

How many ft/lb's is 420 nm?

I'd be very surprised if any of that info is accurate.

my guess at base MSRP was $54-56k...I don't see anything wrong with those prices.

That looks about right to me. Are they going to paint the roof this time?

Oh sh1t looks like I'm not buying an overpriced townhouse inside the beltway any more. ///M3 with a carbon fiber roof is a higher priority item.

Why is the base price increase of 'only' $5k so unbelieveable? Any more than that and a lot of folks will likely go elsewhere, especially if they are on the fence with the exterior.

The amount is not what's unbelievable, it's the timing. Pricing announced before the car has even hit the auto show circuit?

Ah...ATY didn't quote me, so I thought he was responding to something else. My bad. Perhaps I need an ESL class. :)

EXACTLY...I'm on the fence because, the Nissan GTR will be similarly priced. Plus the GTR will out perform the M3 IMHO. But, the M3 will probably have better amenities :D

Its too early to make that assumption of GTR vs M3. By the way is GTR even a true 2+2.:dunno:

Since the car is probably a year away from introduction, I doubt prices have even been set, let alone leaked.

Leaked this early? No...it is just somebody speculating.

As far as the price being set by BMW- you better believe it has been...however it is always up for change due to market conditions (exchange rate, competitors, etc). I heard a story once that when BMW intro'd the Z3, Mercedes and Porsche had to redo the pricing on the SLK and Boxster.

I wonder if this info is really legit, standard SMG, carbon fiber roof, would expect it higher!

I love the front end but absolutely hate the rear.

Reminds me of the old civics, yuck.

I doubt prices would have been leaked so early. I do believe people now have a general ball park figure to work with. The new M3 shouldn't cost too much more than that.

Obviously, cost and MSRP targets had to be set prior to the inception of design. But there's no value for BMW to commit to a specific price until, as you note, the financial and market picture comes into focus.

A New century BMW in L.A. salesman told me that the new M3 will cost about $58k to $ 63k when it came out. Compare to GTR $70k. Both are expensive and fast. M3 has NA V8, GTR has Turbo 6 cylinder. 400hp vs 450hp. What if add a supercharged on that V8. it will dust off the GTR too.

GTR? Skyline?

I stand by my 55k-ish base.

Here in Canada we're expecting the new M3 to come in at $500k CAD or $57k USD.

sorry
$53k is just impossible for something like the new m3

however, i dont really like the new design

$58K will be the base MSRP on the coupe.....just my guess!

Also, hasn't the recent trend in pricing on the e92/93 been to stay at the same price or even lower than the e46?

The german MSRP is 66,500 euros so here's what you do. Take 66,500 and times it by .19 (german VAT) and take that number and subtract it from 66.5k that comes out to 53,865. The US MSRP will be somwhere around that.

i dont think the us price is a simple conversion from the euro price. they'll set the price differently in different markets based on what they think it will sell at. its too early to speculate but over 65k for an m3 would be a deal killer for a lot of people.

There is just no way that the M3 coupe will cost over 65k. Remember, the M3 sedan and convertable are still coming out and if the M3 coupe is in the 60k range they will cannibalize each other. It wouldn't make sense to bring the sedan or the convertable out. I believe the convertable will be in the 60k range though. I stated in another post that the military price for new M3 is a tenative $49,900. If you don't believe me email PentagonCarSales.com and they will give you the same info. I've lived in Germany for a couple years and have a pretty good grasp on pricing. I did say SOMEWHERE around $53,865. Remember they still have place the sedan and convertable.

This is a conversion of German pricing based on some historical comparison data. Of course, US standard equipment, packages and options will be somewhat different, with fewer individual options. Props to South & REP1KKR on M3Post.

Pricing announced today. I'd say it hit it pretty well.
